Shower curtain troubles for big people

Hey all!

After having my 21ss for a few months, the shower curtain setup has me frustrated. I'm a big person, my family are all big people and the volume space contained within the curtain is just a bit too small.

I've thought of constructing a contraption using pvc at about 3' above the shower floor which would work like a hula hoop, but that's all I've got for ideas. I've searched this forum, checked with the Google machine, Pinterest, YouTube and haven't found any reasonable solutions to this issue.

What ideas do you creative folks have to increase the volume of space inside the shower curtained area when taking a shower?

Shower curtain rod

Kcoulter-

This shows a three-walled use, but would it work for a two wall, corner shower as well?

Nope. I’ve installed extend-a-shower units in both of our motorhome shower units, and it’s design is only for rectangular shower stalls…..not corner units.

Interesting, the photo would suggest otherwise.
Do the mounting brackets not pivot (as shown) to where it could be used on a 90º angle?

How about this one then...

Here’s from the Stromberg Carlson website to demonstrate how the extend-a-shower works. It clearly shows a rectangular stall.

Thanks I seen that but what would keep you from using it on a corner shower?
The arms may stick out a bit differently or you may need to modify the arm length but I see no reason it wouldn't still work.

I picked one up to see if it can be used on our corner shower and it was no better then what we had. Returned and still looking for something better.
Sucks being a big boy in a little shower!

It does but the previous owner disconnected it. One of my goals this year is to get it reconnected and 'improved'; better valve, shower head, etc.

Our previous home had a "garden tub"...open on 2 sides. The shower curtain needed span both the side of the tub and the "foot" of the tub. We had a shower curtain rod somewhat similar to this one...with a ceiling support.

Something like this could be modified to work on your corner shower in your RV. But the next challenge will be keeping the curtain inside the shower base. How difficult or easy that will be depends on how far you extend the top of the curtain with the new curtain rod.

Some shower curtains have magnets in their base hem, and you might apply some peel-and-stick magnetic strips to the shower base curb.

Good luck resolving your problem. I'm not that heavy, but I'm tall, and even my tub/shower combo in my RV is extremely tight. I basically don't move much and I use the wand to accomplish what might otherwise be accomplished by turning around and so on.

Several suggestions (above) should work. The trick/problem is keeping the shower curtain tucked inside the shower pan at the bottom. Otherwise you flood the camper.

Campgrounds usually have shower houses.

Once you get that installed, you might want to consider gluing some magnets at the bottom of the shower rim and then getting a shower curtain with magnets on the bottom. We got a shower curtain with magnets on the bottom for the house and it really helps to keep water off the floor.
If you're extending the top, you'll get a lot less water on the floor with something to hold down the bottom.
