Storage between trips - refrigerator

Just bought a new '24 Roo 183. I'm looking for some advice for between trip storage....we put the camper next to our house, close everything up (except 2 vents to get some air inside), and it usually sits at most 2-4 weeks.

All that to say....the refrigerator on the '24 unit keeps running (off battery power and the roof mounted solar panel that provides some charge to the battery) while it sits in the driveway....i'd like turn off the refrigerator to let it dry out and preserve my battery, but there doesn't appear to be a switch to do so [inside]. I'm thinking i would need to turn the battery power off (the '24 Roo has a switch for this by the battery) to accomplish this (and it would save my battery as well.

Any thoughts on this or should i be doing something else? Thx.

We Turn the disconnect off.

The solar on mine is wired directly to the battery. Thus charges with the disconnect off.

Yours could be wired differently.

It sounds like you've got the trailer turned "ON," which is providing 12v power to the entire trailer.

There's no dedicated switch for the fridge (though you may have an automobile fuse that you can pull for it, OR install a switch). If you want to preserve your battery, you want to turn the trailer OFF, and not provide power to any of the 12v system (which does includes the fridge).

BARRING THAT, you can press and hold the power button on your fridge (on the control panel) for either 5 or 10 seconds and that will manually power down the compressor and fan and internal light (though it leaves the circuit board energized, and the power button will flash blue). But I don't know why you would want the 12v energized at all.

Other good storage options include not leaving a vent(s) open (to keep weather and humidity out) to the point of potentially adding Damp Rid inside the trailer (and potentially inside the refridgerator(s) to keep humidity down.

I also like to turn my seat cushions up, such that any moisture that's in there gets a chance to evaporate, but that's old boater behavior.

Just my .02. Hope this helps.

Turn off Fridge

I have a '23 and had the same question...I assume you have the 12v fridge, if so here's what you do.

Go into the fridge and hold the button down... you will need to hold it until the light goes off... about 5 seconds after you think "this isnt working"

then your trailer will still have power but the fridge will be off...

I then pin the door open and stick and damp rid in the fridge...
