STUCK electric front jack-FIXED

camped with my 2014 Shamrock 183 this weekend... severe drop-off toward the end of the parking pad made me have to put the electric jack all the way down ( as in tongue close to the pavement) to level my unit. Three days later, I cannot get the electric jack to move up... although it did respond to the switch activation as it would jump but would not start moving. I know what switch position is UP and which is DOWN... both jumped but neither worked to allow jack to extend. I dug out the handle and could not budge the screw in either direction with moderate-heavy pressure on the handle. I did not give it all as I did not want to strip anything.

Finally dug out my hand bumper jack to put the hitch up to bumper level and get it hooked up, After everything was hooked up I tried putting my foot on the jack pad on the bottom of the jack and press down while activating the electric jack switch and VIOLA--- the jack plate moved down and back up when switched.

I don't know what sticks to keep the jack from moving down but I'm thinking of putting a small SSteel worm-gear clamp around the shaft from allowing the shaft to get too high up into the mechanism and sticking again.

Kinda same thing happened to me. After hooking up to tv, I retracted jack all the way. Mistake. It seems to catch if retracted all the way. If I stop just before it is fully retracted , all is good.

Depending on which maker/model, some have a release lever by the manual screw. I pulled mine up too far one and it locked. Had to pull off the little access port and move lever over and all was well.

Apparently this is a common issue. When I had my PDI on my Mini Lite, the tech put a piece of blue tape on it so I wouldn't retract it all the way. He said if I did have it hang up, I could just turn it back down with the manual crank and it would be good to go again.

Try putting a 4x4 block under jack when setting up to keep from maxing it out..

problem happens when the jack goes to a minimum length not a max length
I haul wood blocks for that, but I had to put the tongue all the way down to level this past weekend...

Better to say "extend" and "retract." "Up" and "down" can be confused with the trailer going up or down vs the jack going up or down.

Problem is usually with retraction.

Mark jack tube with a permanent marker 1/4" - 1/2" from full retract and full extend.
