They started to build our Camper today

I received a call today from our salesman who received a call from the FR rep in Indiana. They started building our Shamrock 23IKSS camper today. They believe it will be finished mid to late January. They can take their time, we won't be camping this winter.

I have been building some lists of things I will need based on some other threads on this forum. If you can think of anything I'll need based on your experiences, your comments are welcome.

To get the camper home from the dealer.
Weight Distribution Hitch - Ordered/dealer installed
Extended mirrors for the TV
Chocks

Some time shortly after delivery.
Trailer cover / wheel covers

1st Camping trip (in no particular order)
Water pressure regulator Surge Protector. RV surge suppressor Leveling blocks Tire pressure gauge Tire inflator teflon tape Sewer hose support Sewer hose screw drivers and wrenches RV safe toilet paper Rubber gloves Lug wrench and bottle jack light bulbs Inline water filter Garden hose for black tank flushing (don’t use your drinking water hose for this) Fuses electrical tape Drinking water hose Clear sewer hose adapter Carpenter’s level Cable tv cable Black tank chemicals Battery AC volt meter 50 foot power cord extension and amperage adapters 30A extension cord 120V outlet tester
Getting excited.

First.. congratulations on your new camper. We have an early 2015 ikss and have really enjoyed it. Great little camper!!
Next, about your list. You will have a water filter in your rear storage compartment, by your water pump. Another filter is really not necessary unless you remove the factory one. Many people do, including me, after mine split.
Suggestion on tools...I bought a small preloaded box from Sears. It has pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, hammer, a few sockets and rachet, allen wrenches, all in a compact molded case. Takes up very little space and is reasonably good quality.
Also suggest a cordless drill. Makes it easy to crank the stabilizers.

Hmmm... Just relaying what I thought I heard him tell me. Maybe he meant it's getting in the queue "to be" built.

Thanks!

Two important things:
1. Insist on a thorough PDI. Don't let them rush you and make sure all systems work.
2. Use Camp Driveway to test everything before going on a real camping trip.

Congrats! We sign papers tomorrow on our new 23ikss, trading in a 2015 Roo 19. Picking it up Saturday morning...hope the snow holds off until we get it parked in the yard!

As for the levelers, this year I bought the Anderson levelers, cost me maybe $80 or so, but they work as advertised and saves me from bringing all those yellow square blocks.

Also, like someone else said, a cordless drill and 3/4 socket will really make cranking the stabilizers less of a chore.

They did tell me PDI would take several hours. Said they would do it in a garage bay because it would most likely be too cold outside.

Did anyone video record their PDI? I heard that was helpful to review later on especially the first few trips.

WRT our first outing, we have a campground less than a mile up the road. Thought we'd try that since home and WalMart are both nearby.

Yep, we got them this year too, raise and block your RV! Great tool.

The socket and drill is a very good addition, especially for us old people!

Thats probably more like it....not a chance they started today and that it will be on the assembly floor for a month plus.

I've never needed sewer hose supports but only camped for a week at a time once a year with a full hookup. You may or may not need/want them.

I'm going to use the Anderson Levelers too on my new camper. Used the Lynx levelers for years but decided to switch.

Also going to put this in my camper instead of bubble levels on the outside of it. Just an idea for you to look at.

I also bought a keyless entry lock from https://www.rvlock.com/ to change out my lock. Another not necessary item but something I think I will like.

I'm also going to check my storage keys and probably use one from here. RTCL Another option is the Combi-Cam lock. I had that on my Roo's water pump door and like not needing a key but the numbers get smaller as I got older so don't plan on using them on my next camper. I do have 3 I am selling on ebay.

I'm thinking of changing the sewer vent camp to this.

And for chocking look at this.

https://www.amazon.com/X-Chock-Wheel.../dp/B002XLHUQG

Just some things I thought of.

Greg

I was in the business Ron and I can assure you if the unit started down the line at 8:am it was done by noon or shortly thereafter. What he probably told you or meant to imply was that it was scheduled to be built. They usually are scheduled a month or more in advance so they can gather the components they will need for each individual product that comes down that line.

Congrats, I'd add a socket and extension to drain water heater.

Does it cost anymore to have on built compared with a equally equipped one the dealer already has?

Try to not let the dealer rush through the PDI and ask a lot of questions. Take detailed notes because you will be getting so much information overload your head will spin. If anything seems odd, question it. Some dealers do the PDI well and some don't.

And as soon as the weather is warm enough, go on a short shakedown trip. There will be issues that will need to be addressed before you hit the road for real.

Most of all...enjoy your new RV and have fun.

Yep, it was probably completed in about 2-4 hours if like the rockwood factory tour I went on, they completed about 20, 36' triple slide rockwood travel trailers every day.

Make sure during PSI you have an understanding of the many systems involved and how they work together and independently.
110 volt, 12 volt, fresh water tank with pump, city water connection. Black water drain, gray water drain. Cooling (a/c) and furnace.
Frig on 120 volt and gas. Water heater, water pump.
Slide mechanisms. A lot of initial questions are connected to these systems.
Best of luck and let us know how it goes. Lots of folks here are much smarter than I. 🤔
