Tongue Box

I'm looking for a tongue box for my 233s but I'm struggling finding an appropriate size. I measured the distance between the camper and propane and it's a fairly short approx 13in. My lithium battery is about 9.5in wide.

I've seen the RVlockboxes but they're only 8in interior width.
Anyone have luck with a tongue box that fits a battery/2 and other odds/ends.

I've googled/etrailer/trailer supply and just can't find an appropriately sized one. I don't really want to move the battery inside bc I'll remove it from the camper in the winter anyway.

Thoughts?

You might look at the Harborfreight small tongue box ( https://www.harborfreight.com/231-cu...box-61602.html )
I put this on our Surveyor 19bhle and have 2 100 Ah Lithium batteries in it, bus bars for connections and a battery monitor shunt.

This RVLockBox is 10” wide inside dimension.

This one from TorkLift is supposed to be 10.5” wide.

Thanks, I did look through their website, I was surprised to see the 23" box was wider internally than the 27". I was merely looking at the 27" b/c I 'assumed' it would have the largest dimensions.

How does this attach to the frame?

I ripped a pressure treated 2x6 down to the same dimension as the frame and placed it in the old battery tray supports. That supports the box along the bottom of the long side. The box had some U-bolts and plates to mount it, but the u-bolts weren't long enough. So I used some threaded rod of the same size, with some loctite on the threads.

I installed this RV lockbox. Had to cut out the existing battery box rails and install new ones flush with the bottom edge of the of tongue frame. I also had to angle the box a little to allow for the lid to slid out missing the enclave of the camper body. The 200ah LIFEPO4 battery Click image for larger version

I installed the Victron 500a shunt in a waterproof enclosure just behind the battery.

UPDATE: For anyone tracking or seeing this thread. I went ahead and bought this harbor freight box for my 233s.

I mounted it similar to IPcamper, although I just paid to have angle iron welded in-place and I had the box bolted to the angle iron. It was piece of mind that I wouldn't screw up the engineering and lose a 1000$ battery/box at 60mph on the highway.

Biggest lesson learned. The 233s has very little room on the tongue, so I was running into issues w/the box opening and the propane cover fitting properly.

Solution: The propane holder sits on a bracket that actually slides an inch or two forward or backwards. I was able to slide it forward and everything fits perfectly now.

Hanging Chad: I'm going to eventually move the lock to the side so it's accessible w/o removing the propane tank covers.

I used a hole saw to cut access holes in the propane tank cover to the lock and lever on the box I mounted. You cannot tell it has a lock unless you know where to look.

Just a thought for you instead of moving the lock.

I bought a racing fuel storage box from a neighbor as it was the perfect size I had been looking for. Not sure who the manufacturer is. I did have to fiberglass the top to seal the access doors then painted it with bedliner.
