Tongue Jack

Has anyone used the Barker 3,000 lb Electric Tongue Jack on a Roo 23SS? I don't want to buy one and then find out when we pick up our new toy in July that we can't get the beds down because it's too tall.

I would immagine that it would not be taller than your propane tanks. You could get a dimension from barker and compare it to your tanks and get your answer. Assuming you have front mounted tanks on the trailer tounge.

The dealer said that the jack would have to be under 21.5 inches.

A quick google search of "barker 3000 mounted height" reveals a few results that indicate it is roughly 20" above the coupler. Your results may vary.

I had a similar challenge with my 23SS. I had to look for a unit marked as a short. Even then the clearance is close. Good luck.

for my 23SS, i bought a refurbed UF 3500 because it fit quite nicely under the bunk door when dropped down.
plenty of clearance so no worries.

got it off of Ebay for a little over $100.

i think that Triguy has a Barker on his Roo. I'm sure he will chime in.

I do!

I replaced my LCI that came with the trailer after the gears stripped with a Barker 3500VIP. Quieter, smoother, faster and more power. Only problem I had was a faulty switch a year or two ago. Barker sent me a replacement for free (out of warranty, too )

Back to the question at hand. It fits under my bunk on my 233S, but I'll check the height above the A-frame later today.

Just getting back 'cause I said I would but this won't be of too much help for you. As I said earlier, I have the Barker 3500VIP jack and it is 23 1/4" above the A-frame. Too tall for your unit. Maybe this will help someone with a 23SS looking at the 3500.

I hope the 3000 works for you. Barker is a very good jack.

From what I've been reading the 3,500 is six inches taller than the 3,000.

I have a 2011 Roo 23SS. Last year I installed the VIP 3500. As I recall, there was only a couple inches between it and the open bunk. The Roo is still in winter storage or I'd give you an exact measurement.

Did you have to increase the size of the mounting hole from 2 to 2.5 inches?

What's the difference between the regular 3,500 and 3,500 VIP.

You can get the 3500VIP to fit the 2" post. Just give them a call at 888-367-6978

I think they only have three current jacks. Two VIPs and the Hi Power, which has a different type of screw mechanism. I know nothing about that jack.

Barker advised that the VIP is the shorter model.

Nope, I didn't have to drill/cut/hammer/cuss , etc... I took out the 3 bolts from the factory jack, dropped in the VIP, and was done.

Also, I found my receipt. I got it from PPL Motorhomes. It was part# 94-0115 at PPL. Their site indicates that 94-0115 is Barker part# 30828. That's the VIP 3500. 18". And according to PPL's site, it has a 2 1/4" diameter post.

I ordered the VIP3500 for my 2014 233s and it's too tall by about an inch. With the bunk down, it touches the level. If I take off the level and the plate it sits in, the bunk is flush up to the housing. I really wish I could somehow trim about 1.5" so the bunk would clear.

I just talked to Barker and the 3000 and the 3500 are the same height above the frame. I am going to remove the level and put the cover on to provide a little padding between the top of the jack and the bed.

How about no power jack?

I have a pop up and never needed this feature. Now I 'm looking at a Roo 183, not too big. Do I really need this option?
