I keep water in my tank all summer and leave the switch on until I winterize, only turn it off when I hook up the fresh water hose at the campground. I did this 7 years in a row, DW says when she wants to use the water it has to work, she is in there all summer with the kids and dogs.

I even leave it on while we travel. No problems yet.

One of those circumstances is at the Goshen Rally when connected to the water manifolds in the grassy areas. The "city" water pressure can drop suddenly if your neighbors happen to all turn on a faucet at the same time while you are in the shower.

In this case, if you fill your fresh water tank and leave the pump "on", nothing will happen to your pump until that water pressure drops below its cut in pressure. The pump will run keeping your pressure up until the manifold pressure rises above the pump's shut off pressure.

The only time I leave the water pump on is at night, because stumbling about to hit the switch is a pain if'n one needs to use the facilities..

Like many, I leave it off otherwise, and when on city water, I shut the faucet off when I leave the campground.

This is a great idea and has saved many a camper when a line failed with no one home.

Oh, and as an aside, here is a photo of a water connection at our first Goshen Rally during the day. That night, the plastic "Y" broke and we all woke up to a flood. Bring BRASS adapters.

Good Lord, man! If you start rewarding the wife every time she is right, she will go around being right all the damn time!
