5th wheel
Hi everyone! We own a 2023 Salem 42 DL which we keep on a fixed site in Ohio. We’re considering a 5th wheel to use for traveling. Trying to stay under 10,000 lbs, under 36 ft. Just my wife and I. Wants are, king bed, outdoor kitchen and tv, pull out couch (forthe grands)Any suggestions? Looking to buy new.

Just as a reference point, my 30' 5th wheel, loaded for travel for the wife and I, is right at 9500#'s on the scale. The Crusader I have now is about 2000#'s lighter than the Arctic Fox I had for a short while. Since 2013 or so, it seems all the "30'" trailers have grown in weight and length.

Moved thread from the Dollars and Cents sub-forum to the General TT and 5th Wheel Discussion section since the OP's questions are specific to that sub-forum.

Most 5ers run around 10,000# empty. Maybe hard finding one. to fit your needs. Later RJD

5th wheel verses travel trailer?
Obviously just an opinion, but I prefer a travel trailer for backing into campsites. I’ve had both with my F350 long bed crew cab. There was a campsite, at Hunting island state park, I could not get the 5th wheel in but never had a problem with travel trailer. We’ve gone back to a travel trailer. Height can be an issue in some campgrounds as well.

I agree with the others it may be hard to find what you are looking for in the weight you are needing.
As far as to backing I own 6 trailers and find the fifth wheels easier to back and pull but there was a learning curve in the beginning.

Here is a suggestion, however, the weights listed as most RV owners know are not always accurate. The Cat scales tell the true weight story. I am sure if you look around the web you will find a few other trailers with similar weight.

I was going to suggest Arctic Wolf line as that is what I have been looking at lately. However the op wants a king bed and under 10,000lbs and 30'. The suite modules have the king bed, some of the others meet the size and weight. I don't believe any of them meet both.
I would think some would beet the needs, and these are easy to check. The OP just needs to look around more.
