5th Wheel Height

How accurate are the height measurements that manufacturers put on their specs? We are looking at getting a new 5th Wheel, a Front Living one and most of them are 13" 6". I have a pole barn that has 13" 4" of clearance. Just wondering if that number they use is a safety factor or what.

Most Numbers of any kind in regards to RV specs come from "Thin Air"! You must Real World "MEASURE Everything"! Youroo!!

Our unit was listed by the factory as being 12'-3" to the highest point and when I measured it to the top of the A/C it measured 12'-3". So in our case it was spot on.

I'd say take the measurements at face value. If they say 13'-6" then count on it being 13'-6".

You'll also need to measure it once it's hooked to your truck because it may be nose high. Also, if that's the joist or truss height and not just the door height you won't be able to unhook it once you're inside with just a couple of inches of clearance.

Looks like we aren't getting a Front Living 5ver . I wonder if the trend is to make all 5vers near the max height?

My Cedar Creek which is a rear living room is 13'-6" tall measured from the low profile A/C on the front of the 5er.

I have a Garmin RV GPS that is programed with the height, length and weight plus other items. I have never had any issues towing my 5er when hooked up.

I do like the full profile 5er's as I do not have to stoop when I walk in the bedroom.
