I used 10K curled cables instead of chains and had no issues even when we crossed back and forth and a few Canadian crossings. It's simple to unclip the chains while reaching to twist lock the Andersen.
By the way, I carry a Champion Inverter/Generator and a 5hp outboard motor placed in the front of the truck bed. The Andersen is so simple and light to remove that when we are camped at one spot for a couple of weeks or more, I've been know to just take it out of the bed to get it out of the way for hauling boat stuff etc. I just chain lock it to the axles under the trailer and then remount later when it's time to leave.
But that's just an aside. I really liked the Andersen primarily because:
1 - It does what it supposed to do: Haul's a fifth wheel
2 - Saved money, it was cheaper by several hundred dollars
3 - Rides well, rarely feel any chucking except on very, very rough roads
4 - Lifetime warranty: Andersen improved the model twice and sent me upgrades free each time.
5 - Saved about 100# of payload compared to other hitch options available when I bought
But heck just about any 5th wheel hitch is good when you consider it gets you out on the road ;-)
Happy camping!
