Anyone know the R Value?
Sorry to be posting this here but don't know where else to turn for a reply. We own a Palomino 829RKS and we are wondering what the R value is for our unit. I called the dealership and they said they THINK it might be R7 for the sidewalls and R10 for the ceiling and floor. He did say that it use to be R5 and R7 when they used the pink insulation but now they use the foam and even he's not sure. Anyone know how to find out?

I moved the thread here for you. R7 and R10 sounds right for most Forest River products. In my trailer I have R9 in the walls and R24 in the roof and floor but I had it special orderd that way.
Cheers
Bear

Thanks Bear for moving the thread and also for the information. I know someone who is thinking about buying a palominio from FR and they wanted to know the R value.

If they are buying new, like I said you can order one with better insulation, It is a bit of a fight with the factory, but if you are persistant, they will do it.
Cheers

I find it interesting that they use low R value foam insulation in RV's when some in the housing industry are using a type of spray on foam that 2 inches of foam will give the same R value of 6 inches of fiberglass. Many older (pre-90's) homes have 4 inches of fiberglass.

Sorry I posted the above screen shot to this thread in error. Didn’t intend to get a 2006 thread started again.

From my experience, its R-0 LOL. My 2017 camper floor is so cold in the fall, I may as well be walking on the ground.
Just curious... Why question R-value? Something you are looking to do in the winter?

R-values are worthless if you have cheap windows.

I don't know what a Palomino 5th wheel would have had before Forest River bought them a few years ago. But my 2016 Rockwood 5th wheel, which now has the same floorplan as a Palomino Puma 5th wheel, came with R-7 walls, R-12 floors, and R-14 ceiling block-foam insulation.

keep in mind, all these values are calculated values, not actual. They assign a value to every single layer of product. For example, on the floor, they assign a value to the vinyl and wood, add that to the actual insulation value. Doing this makes all the numbers appear higher than the effective insulation is.
