Ecoboost yes, otherwise you are on the edge.
For short distances, you would probably be ok.
But definitely not a preferred setup.

So roughly 5400 curb on truck (not too off the wall guess but we don't have much to go by and 15100 GCVW minus 9700 max tow = 5400 left for truck @ curb minimum) and 8300 in the 5er with avg loading puts you at 13700. Fully loaded 5er with *empty* truck (just you and gas) at 14800. that doesn't include accessories, hitch, more people, etc

No, I have the 4.6 3v 3.73 gear Sticker says gvwr is #7000, Trailer rating is #9400, gcwr is #15,100. I am towing a 30kqbss now, and it weighs more than the fifth wheel, am I over loaded now? The only issue I have now is it is swaying of the trailer even with the equilizer WDH.

Then I wouldn't recommend it. Not only will you be over-loading the truck, you will be over-loading your engine. With a 1410 lb dry hitch weight, you will exceed your truck's GVWR. And don't forget about the extra height and wind resistance of the fifth wheel.
Maybe just get a better anti-sway hitch?
Sorry, that is a nice camper!

How does the engine feel and perform with what you have now? I know my 345hp Hemi gives a little fight with a 6000lb load. At best you have like 292? Just curious since you said your current TT is heavier than the 5er.

figure loaded with standard gear and water, you would be around the low 8000's. So, at 7500 roughly dry, you have 1400 king pin weight. That's 18.7% of trailer weight on pin. At 8000 with same distribution, you will have about 1500 or possibly more depending on how you load (most 5er cargo is in the front of the trailer). 5400 curb+1500 pin=6900 truck weight. That doesn't give you much room, especially if you don't weigh the curb estimated 150lbs or you have a passenger. Toss in 100 lbs of accessories and hitch and you are already at max cap.

So the (I am assuming) Salem 30KQBSS is (according to Forestriverinc.com) about 6900 lbs dry and 900lbs tongue weight. Conservative loading puts you at, lets say 7600 (no water, just the basics). So I am not sure how this is a heavier trailer from the start, but yes it does have a higher GVWR at 11k. Do you load 2 tons worth of weight? If so, you will max out that 5er pretty fast and be over limit anyways...

Besides, why are you looking at a Cougar?
Rockwood/Flagstaff have the same floorplan.

Cool Nice rig!

Wow, I have the same truck and wouldn't dream of trying to tow anything that big. How does it tow? What's the weight and what modifications to the truck were necessary? Air bags, springs, etc. I'm very curious.

Thanks

I felt it was necessary to upgrade my TV from an F150 to F250 for safety. After all, the F150 is a 1/2 ton and the pin weight of a 5er is more than 1000 lbs without counting the hitch weight in the bed.

The 150 can pull it, but for how long until your transmission gives up is the gamble you have.

A F150 today..properly equipped... can have a payload capacity of up to 3,000 lbs,...and can also tow up to 11,300 lbs ..either TT or 5th wheel..so...yes a bare bones F150 could be around 1,000 lbs payload.. but some can handle up to 3x as much..
