Bathroom Faucet

How do I remove and clean the screen? I have tried to unscrew the screen, but do not want too use force. It appears to be connected inside and floats in the outer case. Any suggestions, can I just use pliers and twist?

They are like the ones in your house so buying a replacement is easy.

did you find much debris in the screen?
