Bird nest in 5er kingpin area
Has anyone ever had a birds nest up in the kingpin area? I can't see it or feel it, but a bird keeps flying out of that area whenever I get around it now. I live in a very wooded area, so I know what a nesting bird acts like. Any ideas how to get it out and then to seal it off? My experience with birds is that they will try to nest there again next year as well.

Yep, on our last fifth wheel I had to make a screen out of 1/4 screening. The new RV I made a plate out of some pretty thick aluminum sheeting. Some I have read filled the inbox with foam.

Hmmm...did you mention you owned a 'Sandpiper' fiver?... Just teasing. I would find a hunk of styrofoam or sponge foam, cut it to size and when stored for the winter stuff it into the opening with a rope handle for removal. Happy hunting!

Some birds can get thru a hole the size of a quarter. Look closely for that hole and
seal it with something. I suggest aluminum duct tape. You can also cover it with
screen wire. If you stuff something in the hole the bird will probably pull it out but you
can try. If you find the stuffing pulled out later you've found the entrance.
Around here wasps are a big problem and they can get thru a very small hole!!
Good luck!

Just get some spray foam and fill the void.

We found some cheap, mesh laundry bags at the dollar store. I use two of them. I opened up the bottom of one of them and that slides over over the king pin box and then the other one goes over the front part of the king pin box. They are held in place with bungee cords. I also put some pieces of aluminum over the openings to be doubly safe. It isn't fun pulling out my electrical cord and a nest of birds comes with it.

Thanks for all if the suggestions. Any ideas on how to get the nest out? I can't reach it. She built it all the way into the king pin.

I like the idea of the cat picture, but I never had any luck with the stationary owl scaring anything away, so I imagine they would just become friends! Lol

The old stand by, a wire coat hanger and then a vacuum cleaner or compressed air. Wear a mask & goggles if you use compressed air.

Here's what I did to prevent the bird problem. Won't do much for wasps though.

I used clips and put a screen over the hole to keep the birds out. Nice use of one of Mi plates.. careful there might be a Mi tax for that app.

That looks very good! How did you do that? Is that from tin and cut to fit?
