Does anyone not use their stabilizer jacks?

Having lived on a barge when in the military, I'm comfortable with movement in my living quarters and have taken to using my stabilizer jacks less.

Anyone else?

Any reasons this might be regarded as a bad idea?

To me it is mostly a comfort thing......

Our 2017 came without them. Dealer wanted $600 to install manual type. I did it for less than $100 but I can tell you the bigger the trailer and more people them more you will notice not having / using them........... our sons 92 lb dog is a great example.

I don't use my stabalizers either. Of course I'm a seasonal and have these under my trailer instead.

Not sure I'd put it in the 'bad idea' category but for the few seconds it takes to deploy them I see no reason not to. As flimsy as some of these frames seem to be, why not take advantage of shoring up your rig as best as possible.

Some trailers require the jacks to keep from tilting up if you get too much weight in the back. That happend to me when I was showing some buddies my 21ssl Roo and we all wound up in the back end. It rocked back and scared the crap outta us.

Best answer!
Imagine a romantic couple in the rear bed of a PUP...alone in the camper.

Stabilizer jacks

If just overnight, I'll just level with boards under tires and tongue jack. Wobbles when people move around, but I'm lazy and it's only one night. I may not even unhitch the truck.

I almost never use the stabilizers. We travel 4-5 month a year and a little movement in the 5r is fine. After all it is called camping.

I give you one example that's it's a good idea to put them down. I had a long drive and the site I was put in wasn't level both front to back and side to side. I had a lot of trying to get it level and I forgot to put down the stabilizers. I'm by myself so had to keep going in and out to finish setting up. I was almost finished and was turning on my water heater when the trailer shook. I though my WH exploded and ran out. My neighbor said that the trailer moved. On looking around I saw that the wheels were off the lego blocks. I guess all the walking around inside caused shaking and the wheels moved just enough to make them slide off the blocks. I don't think I'll ever forget my stabilizers again.

DW did that years ago when we had a pup. It was raining pretty hard when she got to the campsite. She set it up and went inside, her girlfriend got there and they both sat on the rear bed. Small fridge sitting in the front, door facing towards the back. Front of pup went up, fridge door opened dumping everything on floor. I got there at 10pm and put rear stabilizers down, had a good laugh at their story, and had scrambled eggs for breakfast the next morning.

My main control panel has a label that reads" Make sure stabilizers are down before operating slide mechanism"

B Mac

With only 10% of the trailer weight on the hitch, the tires are fairly close to the middle. Once you get the hitch weight at the back you got a very big see saw.

We have a 2017 FR SunSeeker 3050S with the "Bigfoot" leveling system.

Can't get the coach to level, (also have air bags that may be part of the problem), so I went back to the leveling blocks and am using HD scissor jacks instead, little motion but better.

I see no reason not to use them. A 33 footer will rock pretty easy

Boats moving/rocking is normal. The rocking motion can be rhythmic and soothing. An RV moving after setup is anything but rhythmic and soothing. Don't want to use your jacks? Don't. No biggy for anybody but you.

This is why you should place wheel chocks before you ever unhitch.

When I just do a quick overnight stop and keep the tow vehicle attached, I don't bother.

For reasons that should be obvious, I make sure to take the "JACKS DOWN" sign out of the TV glove box and put it on the dash whenever I do use them.
