Has anyone switched to a electric furnace in their 37FLH

Makes too much power draw and requires hook ups.

Not sure what you mean by electric furnace but yes I use electric heat until it goes below 20. Then a mix of gas and electric.

Yes I do have a high electric bill but I stay warm. And use a lot less propane.

not sure about your model but for ours I did find a add-on of electrical heater to attached to our current gas heater that you can use if you run out of propane or simply do not want to run propane -

now electric heat is probably going to cost more to heat the rv vs. running propane and propane is WAY cleaner energy source than electric.

I see your in Idaho. I looked up the number and that was for a large 5th wheel. Is that your trailer?

What are you trying to do? Do you want something that will take of the chill on cold mornings? Or are you looking to actually heat in cold weather?

If the former then you already have a 1500 watt firplace it looks like. Get another 1500 watt space heater and that should do the trick.

If the latter I don't see how you can truly heat your trailer with electric. Rough calculation. The furnace in your trailer is at least 35,000 BTUs which translates to ~11,000W of electric heat. 11K watts would need about 90 amps to run which your trailer is not going to do. Say hard wiring two, 2000W heaters would use only 34 amps and might work.

Jim, the standard RV Furnaces are only about 65% efficient. So that 35,000 btu furnace is only outputting about 23,500 BTU. That is about 6.7KW of electric. On a 50 amp service (220V) that is roughly 30 amps total. 15 amps per phase if carefully planned. At 10 cents a KW hour, it would cost 67 cents an hour to run.

We are all electric in our Micro Lite 25KS, don't even carry propane, ... so we heat with two electric heaters, one for the living area and one dedicated to the bathroom, very comfortable, ...
