Electrical

We have a 2009 forest river Salem travel trailer. We are having trouble with low voltage. Ceiling fans quit after 5-10 minutes and the switch gets hot. Can not make toast while using another appliance. Lights will suddenly get bright and then dim again. The rv guys seem hopeless. Any ideas.

I would find a competent electrician/RV tech right away. Heat in an electrical system where it shouldn't be can indicate a very serious problem.

Cheers

We have a 2009 FR Salem. Our ceiling fans stop running after 5-10 minutes and the wall switch gets hot. The lights will get real bright and then go dim again. The toaster elements don't get hot enough when using it with four slices or have something else plugged in. Micro wave doesn't seem to power up properly. The rv guys are hopeless if you can get to come out. Any ideas.

If 50 amp have the pedestal checked. We have had the microwave and the tv outlet flicker and then just quit. Plugged into the 30 amp and everyone was good. They fix the outlet and everything work again.

It sounds like a bad neutral. It could be at the post or in the units wiring. Changing to another plug or post would tell you if it's the post or the unit.

Is it a 30 or 50 amp unit?

I posted in your other thread. Maybe one of the mods will merge these together as it gets confusing trying to keep up with things in different threads.
