Excessive condensation in freezer with camper in storage / winterized?

My camper has been winterized since our Halloween trip.

I went out to check on things this evening since we had some really heavy rain then temps into the teens the last few days.

Everything is ok, except in the freezer there is a lot of frozen condensation. Drips hanging off the top of the freezer and about a 1/4" of frozen ice in the bottom. The camper is winterized and the battery is in my garage on a trickle charger, so the freezer has not been on in over 2 months.

This is a Surveyor 235RS.

The condensation wasn't there when I winterized. Any idea what happened? The fridge is dry, its just the freezer.

How can I prevent this?

Do you leave the doors open?

Maybe too late now but store the RV with the fridge doors ajar so the dampness will evaporate. We don't winterize but if our trips are more than a week apart, I unload and turn off the fridge and keep the doors ajar to keep out the mildew.

I instantly assume the doors are open because it wouldn't freeze otherwise. The water had to be there originally??
Just froze later. I suggest thaw. Dry. And then place a fan or heater will it will dry it out. JMO

Now I know, thanks! Went out and opened the doors up.

Leave doors open all the time in storage.

You can also set container(s) of Damp Rid in the RV to help absorb moisture although the water the containers collect will have to be emptied occasionally. If the moisture is persistent though, you may want to be sure you don't have a leak somewhere. Moisture got significantly worse in my TT over 2 winters and it ended up I had a leak I could not see (the water damage was under the linoleum on the floor) and the TT was a total loss.
