"simiHal": .... For me #1 was Azdel so no wood frame and denting like aluminum cladded sides and no delamination like fiberglass

I suspect that most people here in this forum MAY BE referring to "Azdel" (a composite sheathing that contains no wood or fiberglass) as Fiberglass on the exterior of their TT. In newer TTs this is usually the product in use on well built TTs, and is preferable to fiberglass laminated over any wood substrate which is prone to delimitation.

Most better built TTs also have their exterior walls constructed with ALUMINUM FRAMING, expanded styrene (styrofoam) insulation between the Aluminum studs, and that is then PRESSURE LAMINATED to "Azdel" on one or both sides for a COMPOSITE STRUCTURE this is very durable.

Just to clarify, Azdel replaces the luan plywood that was used inside the walls. The exterior is still a fiberglass sheet, and the interior is what ever cheap wallpaper/covering they use. Many trailer manufactures were "forced" to switch to Azdel because of wood shortages and huge price increases. They would like to sell it as they are high end quality units. Reality is that it was cheaper to switch.

What will be intersting is once the price of wood comes back down how many will start switching back. Certainly for the inside layer they will.

Thank you Jim M., I stand corrected.

I investigated at a manufacturer fo Azdel, and found this:

"Azdel Onboard® Composite
Azdel Onboard composite panels have been used in RV exterior and interior sidewall, ceilings, and roofs since 2006. They are produced using a patented blend of polypropylene and fiberglass to create a strong, lightweight, quiet, weather and temperature resistant, odorless and environmentally friendly wall that will increase the life of your RV.

With twice the insulation value, excellent strength, and half the weight of wood, our composite material increases durability and lightens your adventure. Reduced weight helps keep fuel costs down, while absorbing sound waves to help provide a quieter ride
."

This manufacturer also states that an FRP (Fiberglass) sheet is usually applied over the Azdel in exterior applications, AS Jim M. suggests.

I need to let my wife read this post....

I only kinda knew this because the Rockwood/Flagstaff Mini Lite FB page I'm on was really hyped up when Rockwood switched to Azdel. Like I said, lets see how long they stay there.

Fiberglass is an advantage, but the main consideration is weight. The older aluminum trailers had mostly wood frames, stick n tin. They were heavy. Fiberglass with an aluminum frame is best, but aluminum with an aluminum frame is okay.
