Fifth Wheel Tip

I was told about this tip so many years ago I don’t even remember where I picked it up. I paint the jaws on my 5th wheel hitch making it visually easier to see that I have properly captured the trailer’s kingpin. I also paint the top and bottom of the kingpin making it easier to see if the trailer is high pinned. Even so, I always do a test pull to ensure proper capture.

I've heard this tip before, but the picture speaks to it really well.

Bob,

That is a GREAT Idea! It never occurred to me, but I sure know what I will be doing this weekend

I did this when I first got my 5er because I was a little unsure about things. I felt silly doing it, but now after lots of experience I still rely heavily on that visual clue. The paint stands out well in that dark area. Thanks for sharing.

I changed my Reese out to a B&W now know worries. Still do a pull test out of habit though.
