Furrion Cameras
Hello,
We are getting our new 2018 2909WS tomorrow and it is prewired for a Furrion camera. What are good inexpensive units?
Thanks
Karl

Furrion Cameras
I went with the Haloview 5111. It has a bigger screen than the furrion and has worked great for two trips. It has a mounting plate that works with the furrion mount which is a separate piece. My prewiring was backwards but my buddies worked plug and play. About $250 total from their website. Quick shipping too.

Hi Karl,
I have the 2909WS and is a long camper.
My previous camper was a Roo 23IKSS and being only 25ft long I didn't have a camera.
Since the 2909 is 34'11", I decided to bight the bullet and bought the Furion Observation camera.
I know, it is not cheap, but we have put more than 10K miles in our camper in everything from subfreezing temperatures to near 100F and it never let us down.
My truck doesn't have towing mirrors and I feel completely safe for I can see everything.
I have camera on all the time while towing.
I think it was a good investment.

Thanks for the info. I don’t have the tow mirrors, although looking, either and I think the camera would be a good deal. I’m wondering if they have some older versions that would less expensive. I just put down 300 for a MORryde and need to space out the next purchase
Thanks for the info.

I plan og getting one of these for my TT, it has built in recording also.

Just ordered it, Amazon had a $20 off coupon. I got an additional camera to mount on my enclosed trailer so I can use on both.

Forest River Electronics has the observation system new for $250

I wouldn't leave home without a rear camera.

Upon ordering I found out you need to purchase a memory card for recording. Just FYI.

Just a question, is the 2909 Furrion Camera prewired for all time use or just when the trailer is being towed and the lights are on?
Thanks.

From what I understand, the power is prewired to come on when the parking lights are on, so you would have to run them to use the camera, otherwise the camera would be on all the time since your camper has 12vts on when your battery switch is on

Thanks. I was wondering since the camera is touted as an observation system and not just a backup or rear view camera. It also can have 4 cameras setup to monitor when parked. If it was used like that, you’d need power all the time for sure. Be funny if you kept your parking lights on all the while your camping.

I took the plunge and got the observation system at the sale price on forestriverelectonics site. I also found that site has the water filters and such also . It should be in next week, couldn’t beat that price compared to other prices for the same or pricing of other models.

Furrion & RVS
Just saw the question. I posted this opinion last July when I was going thru the same issue.
Camera Update - Furrion vs. RVS
After much research and returning the Furrion unit, I decided to go with RVS systems. Specifically the RVS-155W with Furrion adaptor. It has a 5" color monitor, waterproof camera, and is wireless. As compared with the Furrion, it is or appears to be: higher quality, heavier duty, larger & better picture, never loses reception nor ghosts, and greater camera adjustability. I am happy with the unit. No issues. I would recommend this unit to others who have not decided yet, or have also experienced issues with Furrion. This one is less expensive too and has great customer service. I say great customer service as I initially had a problem with limited adjustment range of the camera due to the fixed Furrion bracket and antenna sticking out the back. I called and they said "no problem" and sent me a free upgraded antenna with cable attachment.
And no, I did not receive a free product nor work for the Company! Just a satisfied customer. Hope this helps others.

I don't know about the others, but mine is pre-wired and comes on with the light circuit- NOT the parking lights and not the daytime running lights. The lights have to be turned on. Sorry, but I forgot the name of the unit we bought (I'm not at home to look) but it was considerably cheaper that the Furrion setup, and we've been quite pleased with it. I'm going to check ASAP to see what brand...
EDIT: I found it. It's called "4UCam.com".

I got the camera installed and it took more than 15 minutes! FYI, the quick install with just a plug is misleading because behind the bracket on my was two lone wires! I hope furrion wasn’t pay a lot for the advertising with these trailers.
Here is my pic!
I did get it attached and running though. It looks great and will be very nice while driving and backing up.
Have a great weekend and happy camping!
