Yes it does loose some power becasue Propane does not make as much bang for the buck as gas.

It's not so much need... I'm thinking the other way. Do I want to be without power every week in a worst case scenario. Difference isn't much. 30 gallons verses 15?

2 weeks would be about max though. Then I'd need water and laundry and pizza and...

I believe you can carry up to 6 cans legally? Metal jerry cans would be good possibly.
