Ladder reaching high ceiling in 5-er

We recently shifted from the TT to the 5-er world. It's been somewhat more of a change than anticipated, but not excessively so. Anyway, I'm seeking advice from some of you more experienced owners.

My question concerns reaching the ceiling of the main living area. While the ceiling is not at nosebleed altitude, it is well beyond my reach. The A/C filters are out of reach, can't replace light bulbs . . . you get the picture.

I presume that some sort of step-ladder (not extension ladder) is the solution. But . . . what kind? Where to stow it when not in use--there's not much storage space inside our Arctic Wolf 271RK? What are some gotchas that I've not considered?

So, what do y'all recommend? Ladder? How to store? What am I forgetting?

We use a small folding three step step ladder and store it collapsed under the couch.

That is exactly what we do.

You'll need to make the determination how secure you feel on whatever small stepladder you decide on. Some folks get shaky after the first step and need something taller to hold on to while others (like me) climb up and stand on the top step of a three step, stepladder with no issues.

Do what is comfortable for you.

Use the same devices you use in your regular house. Our fiver has chairs around the dining table, so I usually stand on one of those. Otherwise I use one of the folding step ladders I carry in the fiver basement. I have a 4', a two step, and a one step (for when the steps of the RV are too far from the ground).

When we were fulltime, we carried a 6' ladder. I strapped it to our camper's ladder with a ladder rack/hook thing.

I have a foldable aluminum four step stool/ladder that gets me to my 5'ers ceilings without issue. I also have an aluminum 17 foot folding and collapsing telescopic ladder that can fold at the center and double as a step ladder. I stow them both away under the master bed without an issue.

If you’re looking for a special ladder…..just for this issue…..borrow one from someone else at the campground. I’m positive someone’s carrying one.
Why does it always have to be you?

Eww, like talk to people?

And for that reason, I'm out.

Hmm. I started borrowing an 8-foot ladder from the neighbor (where the Cherokee 38P is permanently sited) about five years ago. After three times, he said "Don't even ask. Just take it whenever you need it." I usually borrow it every time we visit since there's always stuff to blow off the roof and the cabin gutters. I also check the roof for damage and potential leaks each time.

I'd give the guy a beer now and then, but he often offers first.

Why me?

My rule generally is that I have to borrow something two times, I need to buy it. Saves the long walk to take it back.
