Location of 7 pin connector 8288ss?

While I patiently wait our 6-8 weeks for delivery, I need to know where the electrical connector should be located? My truck is set up with a controller and 7 pin blade connector for our flatbed trailer and old travel trailer. I plan on using the stock Dodge tailgate, and it looks like I should add a female plug in the bed? I just ordered a Pullrite ultraglide, and hope to have the local installer do the electrical at the installation time if I can determine if we need an additional plug in the bed VS the under bumper one already on the truck.

Any other upgrades suggested? We ordered it w/o back ladder to have a clean rear view, tv/ dvd, outside BBQ, electric awning.

Thank you very much

Allen

Maybe someone can help for sure. But years ago I had one mounted in a ford at the rear of the left inner fender.

I installed my plug on the bed wall, the left side, just forward of the tailgate and about 8 inches below the bed rail. I used an L type bracket for mounting. My father had his installed in basically the same place but had a large hole drilled in the bed to accommodate the plug so it's flush with the bed. Either way will work.

Hemiallen,
I'm not exactly sure how this works, but I believe it connect to the factory harness. Check out THIS page.

Part Number: 20111, Fifth Wheel Adapter Harness.
2000-2007 Dodge Ram Pickup Full Size Truck w/Factory 7-Way

You may have to drill a hole to mount it inside your bed or install it on an L bracket, as Greg did with his.

Also, the 7' loop below can extend from your factory 7 pin connector, at the rear bumper, to your fifth wheel 7 pin wiring harness.

Connector

Thank you very much Michael. I emailed the link's help line to see if I can just plug it in , inline, or if it attaches where the existing bumper plug is.

Thanks

Allen
