I was looking for something to supplement the cushions in the dinette when converted to a bed. This seemed like it would be the thing.
It came rolled into a ball, squeezed down and wrapped in plastic. I didn't think much about it, but unwrapped it and let it unroll.
To get the 80 inch length, I had to buy one wider than I needed, which isn't a problem and the price was almost the same.
First impression was that it was heavy. The effect of the gel is that it feels like it's waterlogged. But it seemed comfortable. I used it one night with the excess width folded up against the wall and it was comfortable.
So, I decided to trim it to size. When I moved it, I found a big crack in it where the dinette cushions met under it. Not all the way through, but pretty deep into it. I went ahead and trimmed the extra width off.
The extra foam was about 18 inches wide and I rolled it up and put a strap with velcro around it to keep it from unrolling. When I came back a couple of days later, the foam had torn itself all around where the strap was and it is now in several pieces. It was excess, so I don't really care, but it makes me hesitant to move the mattress piece. What can I do with it when I want to use the dinette table? If it's going to self-destruct if I roll it up, it's no good to me.
I'd return it to the seller, but there is no way I could ever repack it.
I don't have a good feeling about this foam lasting very long and am looking for something better. Any suggestions would be appreciated...
As a topper for the main mattress, it might be fine if you never have to move it or roll it up, but it won't stand up to frequent moving.
