Move furnace from zone1 to zone 2

I replaced the main ac unit on my 2016 Sierra 371REBH with a Dometic Brisk II heat pump. As it now stands, the furnace and the heat pump are both on zone one, making use of both simultaneously impossible. I would like to move the furnace control to zone II so it could supplement the heat pump in colder temperatures. Since it all is controlled by the CCCII thermostat, it appears that I can simply move the two furnace wires from the zone one to the zone two control board and reverse the furnace dip switches on both to accomplish this. Am I correct or am I missing something?

I don't have a heat pump, but I know that Zone 2 does NOT have a 'furnace' option. There are TWO air conditioners and ONE furnace. In your case, ONE of your a/c units is also a Heat Pump. The other a/c unit (Zone 2) does not have a heat function.

Least, I THINK that's how it is.

I assume by "I can simply move the two furnace wires from the zone one to the zone two control board" you know that you have to physically move the furnace wires from one A/C to the other, and then turn off the furnace dip switch in the Zone 1 unit and turn it on in the Zone 2 unit and re-initialize the thermostat for both zones, then yes, you should be able to do what you propose.

Yes, I understand that I will have to physically move the wires from one unit to the other and change the dip switches. I had forgotten about reinitiatizing the CCC2. I wanted to make sure it wasn't more complicated that I was thinking.

With the CCC2 thermostat, it appears that the furnace can be connected to any unit with a control board. The board in zone 2 does have terminals to connect the furnace to.

I have toyed with this idea as well. But remember the heat pump cuts off somewhere around 35 and automatically switches to the furnace. If you move the furnace to zone two you lose that. Although if you set zone two to furnace than it would pickup anyway when the hp cuts off.

I do like the idea of both running but i didnt want to get into moving wiring from the back to the front.

Let us know how it goes.

I want to use the furnace to keep my pipes from freezing in the basement when it gets really cold and to supplement the heat pump. I plan to set the temp 3-4 deg cooler than the hp, allowing it to act like auxiliary heat on a house unit. My unit is supposed to have the heavier insulation, but it gets cold in it really quick. Maybe it has to do with how many windows it has. I think the hardest part will be snaking the wires through the ceiling to zone two. I will probably cut and splice the wires in the wireway a access behind the shower. That way I only have to pull the wires 5-6 feet.
