It didn't Impact MPGs at all.

And the bugs are less terrible than you'd imagine. Though, I do have a jumbo sized grill cover that I keep meaning to put on them.

The bikes get a little buggy. The bikes are the kids and I've never heard them complain about bug guts on their bike. Lol.
I didn't notice any change in mpg's. Not that I was watching anyway. If I were worried about mpg's I surely would not have bought a fifth wheel that weighs in at nearly 15000#'s.

Kind of my thought too, but there is something psychological about seeing it 0.5 less than it used to be.

I actually calculated the difference on 0.5 mpg towing to Disney and back. For the entire 2000 mile round trip, it is $23 difference.

How many 2000 mile trips do you take year? We're leaving in a few week for Florida and can't wait. I defiantly wouldn't leave the bikes home to save $23. Lol
Diesel keeps creeping up everyday around here. I'm surely not going to cancel the trip last minute because it went up $.30 in the last two weeks. Life goes on. We typically take one big trip a year and try to prepare for those uncontrollable costs.
We camp about 12 times a year and the campgrounds we visit are no more than 2 hours away. Driving thru a handful of small towns to get to our destination kills my mileage more than those bike ever will.
Don't sweat the small stuff!! Just hitch up and enjoy some good quality time with your family and friends!!!

We usually take 2 long trips a year. Going to Gulf Shores, AL and Gatlinburg this year. They aren't as far as Disney. DW got a new job this winter so she doesn't have as much time off for now. We also do a number of state park and COE campgrounds in the MO, IL, AK, IN, KY area throughout the year. We were camping at a state park 2 weekends ago when we had a funeral to go to about 3 hours from StL.

I raced sports cars up until last season. We are based out of the St Louis area and towed 3 race cars from Utah to Virginia and Atlanta to Wisconsin. A little 1000 mile trip isn't that big a deal.

And the shortest distance we camp is 2 hours. There is one state park that is about an hour. Everything else is at least 2. We also like to mix it up. I don't like to go back to the same place too often.

And you're right about the small stuff. Not worth it if I get a chance to go camping.
