Riding in a moving 5th wheel

is it legal to ride in a moving 5th. wheel camper ??

not that i would ever do it just wondering......

It's legal in about 21 states. Of those some have other restrictions, such as two communications with the driver, safety glass, etc. It's not something I would do because, unlike a motorhome, there are no seat belts in a fifth wheel. I'm sure it also gives a rather rough ride because of the location of the axles.

Put the dog back there once. We had guests in the truck. We wound up in a hotel while I cleaned dog puke out of the camper.
It is a VERY rough ride back there. Bella still won't talk to me.

The big problem is that the TT/5er suspension is designed on the assumption the vehicle won't be occupied. Springs are selected for stability rather than ride comfort and damping is set up to keep the thing on the road, rather than to provide a comfortable ride.

Certainly, you need 2-way communication with the tow vehicle.

Ride quality is the primary issue that has us in a Class A, despite many relatives who have bumper-pull trailers and think we're nuts.
