Satellite TV hook up

Any issues acquiring sat signal ? Went to do so in my new Sabre 36ktsb and could not get a signal when hooked up to the sat port on the camper. Cabled it directly to the receiver (bypassing the camper) and the signal came right in. I'm thinking the cabling is not right inside the camper. Any thoughts ?

the cabling inside may have splitters which are not always compatible.

I have a cable coax adapter and satellite coax adapter at every tv. On at least one of them, it was labeled wrong. Try the second coax connector if you have two.

Or perhaps your connection panel at the docking station has a satellite input for each tv. They could be labeled wrong on the docking station. Mine was.... the living room was labeled as the master bedroom.

I did and got nothing. I have one port in the rear of the unit and 2 ports upstairs in the bedroom. Have tried all 3, no luck

Pull the face plate off and make sure there is a cable attached would be the next thing I would check. There have been users on here that have reported the cable was not attached.

Good call, will do. It's set to go back in for some other warranty work and this will be on the list. I will check the rear of the face plates first though.

If the coax jack inside has an antenna signal amplifier somewhere in the line your satellite won't work. With the comment about bypass works and connected does not, either you have an amplifier that needs to be turned off or bypassed or the cable is not connected somewhere in the line. Does regular antenna or cable TV work and just not satellite?

Good luck

Good luck on this one. This is a Major issue that has been brought up on this Board Many times. Our C.C 36CKTS is in the shop as I write this for the same issue.

Like you, I checked for all the things that have been suggested. Still didn't work.

Forest River has been NO help on this issue. I have called many times. They claim they are NOT installing Splitters for the Sat feeds.

The RV Dealers are not addressing this with F.R. Instead, they are simply pulling the existing Sat Cable out while "fishing" in a New one. Which may in fact solve the problem, but does not explain what was wrong.

You have to have clean runs from the docking to each tv. Also make sure there is no amplifier in the run. I made a dead end cable end to test each line.

My would not work. I finally took the panel off and the connectors were not screwed on. So I tightened them down (on both ends). I also verified there were no splitters on the satellite cable. A Splitter was on the campsite cable one. The splitter tied the campsite cable with the over the air antenna cable (all were loose and needed to be tighten)

When I took the faceplate and panel off I discovered that it was not hooked up to the satellite port but was on the cable port. After I moved it to the satellite port everything worked fine.

I have found that you mostly find answers here, and possibly get a solution and fix from a good dealer... and you grow old and are on your third RV before you get anything useful out of FR. They are interested in manufacturing and new sales. And they seem to not care or know what they put in on the line last week so they can help you. Grrr

I had the same problem, then I discovered a button on the coax cable plate from the TT to the television. Found it by chance and there was absolutely nothing in a manual. I'm assuming this is some sort of amplifier switch. Got a signal after pushing the button.

Coax short

Mine wasn't worked ng because the connectors on the coax were not installed correctly and the outside braid wire was shorting out on the center wire when I took the coax connector off the cable. Worked when I fixed that.

I replaced all my connectors. Then discovered, by looking at the color of the coax, that the satellite connection in the docking station was run to the bedroom, that there was a straight run from the L.R. to the bedroom, and the connection in the L.R. was not even hooked up and was rolled up behind the docking station. I moved the bedroom run to the auxiliary and hooked up the L.R. run to the satellite input on the docking station. All works now. Still haven't figured out why the straight run from L.R. to B.R.

Thanks Bob, I will keep that handy. Probably going to just be a dealer issue now, under warranty. Thankfully I have a small town dealership in Mantelli Trailer Sales that really cares about their customers.

The basic drawing is a FR. That is my modification drawing for my GT378 MH carryout satellite installation using the park cable input port. The basic drawing is for the Georgetown 378 series motorhome. Mine is a 2012 and not even sure if it covers many later years of the GT 378. I posted it sometime ago to show how I used an A/B switch for my sat install. Would consider this applicable to 5th wheels/trailers.
