Scissor Stabilizers

Do the typical travel trailer stabilizers work with a 3/4" socket? I have an impact driver and that socket, so was wondering if I could use it or if I needed to get the dedicated Camco one.

I think a lot of people use their battery powered impacts or drills, to run them up and down. As long as it works you should be fine.

Thats what use, 1/4 impact driver and special 3/4 socket made to connect to my driver. A bit noisy but it works.

Went to Harbor Freight and got a $23.00 battery powered drill and a socket bit. Works just fine.

A regular drill and 3/4 socket does the job without the noise.

Yes, no point in spending money on the Camco

Exactly! I have no idea why almost everyone uses an impact. Damn sure annoying! Some of my camping buddies use them. I now hand them my regular battery powered drill for comparison. The wives look at them and shake their heads when it does just fine w/o the noise. I do believe they will invest in a new drill soon

Luckily I just got the DeWalt combo, so I'll grab that, a couple batteries and my socket set and call it a day!

A cheapo cordless drill was the first accessory I bought for our Roo. I even wired it up so the battery can charge off of 12 VDC when I am driving. I leave it in the trailer.

I use a drill. An impact driver is too loud.

Amen. You don't want to be hammering on those lead screws much. Definitely not good for them.

The key word here is impact driver. If you don’t mind pounding the lead screw, thrust bearings and hinge points to hades, then by all means use an impact driver. After all your 4 stabilizers only cost 4 or 5 times more than a cheap HF drill driver. DUH!

I use an old Craftsman 1/2" drive crank and go old school on them babies. I figure I'm going to be sitting in my chair drinking a beer in a few minutes anyway so I might as well get some exercise. Hahaha.

Nothing unless you sprain the hand you use to drink your beer. Why take the chance?

I jammed my finger the last time I retracted my stabilizers. Pushing those toggle switches can be labor intensive.

Well.......I am going to use my battery drill. I was told though with a battery drill and making it easier for the drill just ensure the jack is well lubricated......

I ssf suggest using a dry lube. Many are teflon based. Lots of road grime gets on the screws and the dry lube does not collect it as much.
