Does anyone know why/how these break? I already repaired once because it was too low on the post. It broke again but not sure why. Anyone else have same issue? No severed electrical thank goodness
It's pretty common. The wind probably shakes and break them. You can try to run a tie down strap or maybe very light gauge strip of flashing to help give it some support. I think I overlapped mine where it broke in the middle like yours and pop rivet back together. So far it's holding together.
Well mine is pinched between slide out and bottom edge of trailer. So there's no way it can get wind. I'm pretty sure that's why it breaks but I'm not sure that's the correct location for it. All I did is order a replacement. I'm sure it will break again.
Get you a T-hinge about 3" long and attach it to the frame and the broken end of the strap. What breaks it is it gets put into almost a 90 degree bend and the plastic breaks.Did it to my old 5er and never broke again.

Do you have a pic of it? I'd sure like to see what it looks like installed
You might have good results using a "cable carrier." It's what is used with CNC machines when the wiring needs to move along with the tooling. We used it to protect electrical wiring in passenger doors on trains. The various sensor wiring moved with the doors such that the cable carrier rolled above itself, being folded in half when the doors opened and fully flat when the doors closed. If the door was in motion there was always a 180 degree bend in the cable carrier somewhere along the cable. You might even find it available through Walmart but you would need the type that can be opened up so one doesn't have to thread the wiring through it. Hope this makes sense....google is your friend on this one. Enjoy!
