Stink from under the sink area
Anyone out there know why or what could be causing a stink from under the sink area? I checked pipes nothing loose and no leaks. We are in the middle of a trip.
The stink is really bad when you open the cupboard door.
Any help would be great

Air admittance valve. Look up really high in the cabinet, attached to black abs drain pipe. They unscrew easy to either un jam or replace.

So do I just unscrew it and run some water or do I need to do something else?

Unscrew it and just clean the rubber diaphram inside if it is not damaged. Diaphram is quit flimsy so be careful. I believe some lubricate it will a very small amount of something like cooking oil.

This happened to me at the Nashville rally. DW noticed it and asked me to investigate. Sure enough as soon as you opened the cabinet door, foul smell!! I located the device described above but could not get it to either unscrew or come off the pipe. It seemed to free spin without coming off. So, I twisted it around a couple times and the smell went away. Didn't have an issue the rest of the trip. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies, I took the cap right off and ran some water. Went to the Epcot centre so we will know when we get back if it worked. I saw the white cap inside the black one. Nothing on it very clean, is there another one inside the tube?

No nothing inside the pipe. If it still smell you can replace it. Home Depot carry them.

I always dump some chemical down in the tank, they make one for odors or you can just use what you use in the head. You have to remember that sometimes food particles or grease will get in the tank, haven't had a problem since. Also could be that valve, mine wasn't...

Our galley tank will smell when it gets close to full. After we drain it the smell stops.

I put some chems down the drain and twisting the cap seems to have helped.
Thanks very much for the responses. This forum truly is a help!

After reading the posts, I checked the drain caps on my camper and have the black ones referenced. Neither one was screwed all the way down, only about half way. Should they be hand tightened or left loose about halfway up?? My mind tells me tightened, but not sure here.
