Turning noise-no wdh

New to tt. Just bought 2012 prime time tracer 264lrs. Have searched and read threads about wdh noise but I am towing mine without one so far, with a gmc 2500hd. Creaks and pops on normal turns, worse backing in. Sounds more like axel than hitch, like they are about to rip off the frame. Sounds common but sounds scary to me. New hitch ball. No grease on anything. Am I just new to this or in trouble?

I had this once and put some grease inside the hitch sockit I found after the ball and hitch mate together for awhile I wiped the grease off because if you brush against it you get greasy. I then sprayed a good silicone lubricant on the ball and socket no more noise. Hope this helps you.

The way I looked at it was when it creeked and growned, I knew the system was working the way it should.

Do you have a spring leaf suspension? If so, the brass bushings in the eyes may be worn out. I say this as I replaced my bushings and bolts with heavy duty shackles and wet bolts within a year. The bushings I pulled out were almost gone! Now my noise is gone. No noise when moving. Had other campers come up cause they didn't hear us pull in! Also replaced the metal equalizer with an equiflex unit. Big difference with bucking and ride.

do you have an anti-sway bar hooked up and tightened? they can give the exact noise you are describing, very common, no problem,..........just embarrassing when driving thru a parking lot, .... if you are using one, loosen it and see if the noise goes away, ...

Noise

No anti sway or wdh installed. I think hondaman might be on it. Noise is definitely from axes not hitch. Will check those bushings.

These are what I replaced:

MORryde UO12-016 Heavy Duty Shackle Upgrade Kit, CRE3000 / Stock / Equaflex 2.25" Shackles - Tandem Axle https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007HRICH2..._wcw5ybSJJ8Y3Z

Lippert 279687 Equa-Flex Suspension Upgrade Kit for Tandem Axle 4K - 6K https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BFUA3YW..._few5ybSW51CM9

The old bushings were plastic and worn thru. New ones are brass and nice and quiet after putting grease in them.

Equa flex

Am doing same setup. I have wide set axels, not sure that was good choice, but they make an equalizer for it. I kept getting replies it was normal hitch noise but I knew it was in axels. Your the only one that got it.
Thanks again.

The noise is most likely from the axles and suspension as you suspect. This is very common in dual axle trailers when turning sharply on a surface with lots of traction. Because of the physics of two axles, one or both of them can not rotate smoothly around a tight turn and must try to slide. Try backing with the same turn radius on a sandy surface or grass where the wheels can slip and you should not hear the noise. One thing you should try to do after tight turns is to move the TT straight forward or backward enough to allow the wheels to straighten out so as not to leave them under torsion.
On another subject. I would recommend you look into a WDH with sway control. You should notice a significant improvement in ride and sway abatement.

Actually replacing entire suspension, axels, etc. all kinda rusty so once I started just kept going. Using wet bolts on reassembly. Should be done this week. Will let you know. Been a project
