Use of cruise control

Hello all. I have a 2021 Freedom Express 19 RBS. Pulling it with a 2021 Chevy Silverado RST with towing package. Pulls up to 9700 pounds. Travel Trailer is about 5500 now. Pulling g with a E2 distribution hitch. Actually don't feel travel trailer when Pulling it.

My question. Do any of you use tje cruise control while Pulling your travel trailer on the highway.

Thanks all and have a great weekend

I use cruise control all the time on dry straighter roads.

I love my cruise control especially going up and down steep grades. The cruise control in conjunction with my exhaust brake will keep my speed constant without me having to touch the pedals regardless of how steep the road is.

I get in right hand lane and stay until I need to pass. Set cruise at 65 and stay in overdrive while pulling our 5vr. The only time I turn the cruise off is if I get into a lot of up and down hill driving.

X2. I find the cruise control maintains a steady speed much better that I can, giving me a feeling of better MPG. I do usually disengage it for moderate and steep hill climbs to slow a bit and ease excessive downshifting.

I use the cruise control as much as possible. And always in tow/haul mode when pulling the camper.

I also use cruise most of the time. Usually back down 2-3 mph on long uphill grades, but otherwise keep speed between 62-65. Use tow haul always and keep in the slow lane except around busy cities, then turn cruise off and stay in middle lane if there are three to choose from.

I too use cruise control. Only on dry days with calm winds.

Yup, all the time! Fords works better than the Tundra unit.

I always use the cruise control in tow mode ("ECT" in my Tacoma) on dry roads. I especially love it on hills. Going down a 6% grade in Wyoming, it downshifted twice to maintain 65 mph.

Wow I am really surprised at these replies! I was certain I would come in here and see everyone saying to never drive with cruise control while towing. I am going to give it a try next time I tow. I simply assumed it was a no no

Glad i checked out this thread.

I use cruise control almost all the time. But there is one situation where I learned NOT to use it - steep grades that you may encounter. The lesson was learned near Asheville, NC going west on I-40. Going down a long steep grade was no problem and cruise control helped to stabilize the speed. But coming up was another story. I tow with an F-150 Eco-boost pulling a Grey Wolf 26DBH. The engine was working much too hard and heating up very quickly. One time was all it took to learn to go manual when going UP a steep incline and, if necessary, let traffic go past at their comfort speed.

Cruise control

As long as the load is within limits of your truck, and on relatively straight and flat highways. there's no reason not to use cruise control. I always do. But never in mountains!

I use Cruise a lot. Towing or not. It helps my bad knees get a break. The cruise broke on our old Avalanche a few years back. I missed it immediately. Had to get it fixed.
