Ventilation Fans...
Hi everyone,
We're wanting to replace the useless OEM ventilation fan in our Avenger ATI 27RBS with something a little better.
I've been looking at the Dometic FanTastic units, and the MaxxAir 4000K and 4500K Standard units.... right now I'm kind of leaning toward the MaxxAir 4500K with remote and rain sensor.
Which units do you have, any recommendations?
Thanks!

I have several MaxxAir models but our MaxxFan Deluxe with the integrated rain cover is by far the sweetest. (7500K Smoke)

I recently purchased a Fantastic Fan for my 5'ver...
Haven't installed it yet...
Been too hot here in the Arizona desert to crawl up on the roof (was 118 degrees a couple of days ago).
I wanted to get the Vortex fan as they are easily installed from inside without having to remove and replace the ceiling vent.
But...I have the Easy Lift vents, which are not compatible with the Vortex fans.
Also, the MaxAireII vent covers don't fit these, either.
Here are two shots of the Easy Lift vents in my RV :

Just installed the Vortex II fan in the bathroom. Easy to install, greatly improves ventilation, and not overpriced like the others. I really like this thing. Some good installation vids on YouTube.
Best of all, don't need to get on the roof!

Vortex is easy upgrade. And much improved. Price is right. And as said all done from interior.

My adventure with Vortex fan install:
http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...iew-83371.html
This is in the living area of a 5th wheel so the ceiling is a bit high. A recent mod was to get a "pull chain switch" for a ceiling fan light kit and replace the original fan switch with that (I have the single speed version) added some chain and a tassel and now the fan is easier to operate.
Putting one of these in a bathroom as a replacement should be a snap.

Put a MAXXFAN 4500 in the bedroom vent last year. Love the remote, can change the direction and speed. Found out while in Arkansas last week, the rain sensor works.

Just got back earlier this evening from our first outing since installing the Vortex II in our Avenger.
We ran the fan for the majority of the weekend, and the first thing I noticed is that it is a bit quieter now than it was right out of the box... presumably because the brushes have "broken in" and seated fully on the commutator in the motor. So now, not as much "whine" sound from the motor.
I also noticed that you cannot shower with the fan turned on, even on "LOW"... as it moves enough air to pull the shower curtain into the shower (our vent is in the shower on our Avenger). So I know it moves a good bit of air, especially compared to the original token Ventline fan.
The fan seemed to keep fresh air always flowing into the camper, while it was ON, the camper never got "stuffy" inside even though the temps were in the upper 80's in partial shade/sun.
After the first outing with it, and it probably running about 30-36 hours or so, I'd have to give it a thumbs up...
It moves a LOT more air than the original, relatively quiet, especially on LOW, and very easy to install, and the price is half or less than a Fantastic/MaxxAir fan (although I'm sure the Vortex II doesn't move nearly as much air as the Fantastic/MaxxAir fans either...)

The 2 MaxxAir fans that came stock on our Shamrock hybrid were* strong enough to suck the hybrid tent ends in while both are running on high at the same time, with the door and all other windows closed. The negative pressure was enough to assist in lifting the bunk doors when closing.
As they came stock, I cannot comment on cost or installation but they were extremely effective at moving air.
*"Were" refers to our having sold our hybrid in prep for upgrading to a Mini- or Micro- lite.

Not completely on topic but opening the bathroom vent in my bathroom is a pain.
I've got a 2018 2512 toy hauler
I'm 6'1" and have to get a step to reach it. Anyone come up with a mod for this? If my 5'5" wife had to close it we'd have to have a ladder with.

Lol my favorite thing with my fantastic fan is that if I get any flying bugs in the trailer, I can remove the screen, leave the light on next to it, and all the bugs get sucked out!

I never close mine, as the vent cover keeps any water from coming in.

If it is a crank type vent, there is a commercially made product that replaces the crank with a knob that a long handle slips in. Google Barker Vent Stick.
I simply took a 18" piece of 1" PVC pipe and cut a slot in it to fit the crank and use that. Didn't cost a dime as I had a piece on hand. A larger diameter piece will work on a knob type if you cut notches in it.

This is how I did mine. The knob is different but the indentations on yours might work or drill holes through the indentations for the pins to go in.
