Water dripping from ceiling speaker🫤

My first post here… I have lived full-time in my travel trailer since 10/2022; during a late rain earlier this year I had a slow drip coming from a speaker embedded in the ceiling. When I asked my neighbor about it, he explained the speaker didn’t have roof access and suggested it could be condensation. Another opinion was that water could be getting in around the A\C and traveling to a lower point, which would describe the location of the speaker. Does anyone have thoughts to share? I’m new to full-time RV living and the learning curve is pretty steep, any thoughts would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks!

Yes it's a leak from either the upper sidewall or the roof. You'll have to get up on a ladder and look for any roof protrusions (vents, ac, etc) near the leak. As water enters it will seek low points to drain. The screws that attach gutter rails to the upper sidewall can come loose and allow water to enter too

Thanks Chris! I’ll show this to my neighbor - I’m a 71 year young lady and know I shouldn’t be anywhere near the roof

I'm 70 and know what you mean.

Whatever roof sealant you use, make sure it's compatible with your roof membrane. If it's not compatible it may not stick or adhere well. Then you're leak will come back.

For rubber (epdm) roofs, i use dicor self leveling caulk. For the vertical surfaces I use Geocel Rv Proflex. These products fit into a standard caulk gun.

On the roof, look for cracks in the caulking or a deteriorated roof membrane.

Hopefully you're catching it early in the leak process

Find out what your roof membrane is and come back to the forum if it's something different. I can't advise on any thing other than a rubber roof

I'd check the roof first. If it's good up there then look at the screws holding your gutter rail.

Good luck

Please post the year, make and model number your trailer. That way those that own the same trailer, can be more helpful.

OK, since your trailer is not a Forest River product, you're going need to provide more information than normal since no one here owns your trailer brand or model.

Good morning - I didn’t know this forum was strictly to help people with Forest River products, thank you for sharing that important information.

most trailer stuff is generic between all trailer manufacturers
we don't care if your's is made by the wrong people ..
Old , Warren may get annoyed on your purchase but he'll get over it.

90% of your trailer is similar, if not the same as ours
so keep the questions coming

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm almost 70 doctor says ..... go for it, you need more exercise
(yeah right , what does he know?)

I still get on the roof when cool (mornings is best) for routine stuff like looking at the sealant ..... I'll find someone for the lifting of the heavy sh^t up there..

but I always got my angina pills just in case.
so If you drive past .......... and see me just laying there .
they are in my top pocket (tiny brown bottle)

very possible your a/c could be loose too
have the 4 bolts holding it down checked as well
you have to remove the INSIDE cover to inspect the bolts

water will travel to all sorts of places away from the actual leak point
It's nasty, wicked stuff that's why I won't drink it!

bikendan didn’t say you couldn’t get help here but as the website name implies, a large proportion of our members own Forest River products. We know more about Forest River products than any others. You may have to provide more detailed information.

You made me smile… RV living is not for the faint of heart(those little brown pills sound like a good idea)… but perhaps a good way to discern and re- prioritize what needs attention and what can be contemplated… I’m getting the idea that leaks are in the needs attention category…

Go to the RV park office and look for cards for mobile RV technicians. Ask the manager who they like and don't like. Mobile RV techs are much better than going to the dealerships.
