The AT Museum is right at Pine Grove Furnace. Take them over to the furnace and then take them for ice cream at the camp store right there. There's an AT tradition of trying to eat a 1/2 gallon of ice cream in the fastest time possible... of course, you pay for the ice cream, frozen mouth, and unpleasant feeling afterwards. As a price, you get a little wooden spoon with something stamped on it.

Otherwise, the trails and lakes there are beautiful.

(Ok, I might be a little jealous- I love that area. Grew up camping there!)

Thanks ependydad. Yeah I'm taking my oldest and we're going to hike a loop at the park. Not sure about 1/2 gallon challenge but it might be warm enough to want to cool off.

Just finished wiring up my 530W solar to an Outback Flex80 controller. Trying to figure out what size panel (3rd panel) I can add to the roof. Also installed 2 Fantastic fans along with a King Antenna w power meter. I still need to add a second 12V battery and my 2kw inverter.

The same as the other windows without the shade down. Yes you can in, but the company that makes the windows also has a black vinyl magnetic shade that goes on the screen door. You roll it up and snaps into place. I'd say rolled up it's about 3" X 17" . At night undo the snaps and the shade covers the entire window.

In the early 1960's, every October, during "teacher workshop days," my brother, dad and I used to go camp on the AT just south of Centerpoint Knob, which is a couple miles south of Boilings Springs, PA. Centerpoint Knob is the middle of the original trail, 1024 mi each way to Georgia and Maine. One year there was a guy in there logging. He had an old army-surplus M-4 tractor he was using to haul out the logs; he gave us a ride in it. Pretty exciting for a 12 year old!

After 2 trips in my new (to me) Roo, I decided that I really wanted/needed a slide out cover. So I ordered one, and today I installed it! Wasn't that hard. Hardest part was drilling that first hole into the camper!!

What did you use to shim?
Went to Hobby Lobby, walked through their arts and crafts section and picked up a piece of material similar to plywood.....anything close to 1/8 " thick was about what it needed....some guys over in the Grand Design Forum said they took their Dremel tool with a small blade and cut off about an 1/8" of the post....I didn't go that route for fear I might have to return them....had them keyed to the same key for my cam locks that had been done earlier.....when you order tell them what key # if you want them like your cam locks...you can do that in their "Comments" section of the order form.

Not the camper, but filled the truck with 97.5 gallons of diesel before prices go up for the holiday. Now I can make the 780 mile trip to Gulf Shores on Friday without any fuel stops. (Potty stops for DW and DS are an other story)
Bringing the camper home from storage tomorrow to plug it in and get things cooled down. I have a new towel rack to install and some pull out drawers from Ikea to mount under the dinette benches.

Got the Blue Streak installed.
Awning Hold Down poles on the main awning.
Bedroom TV installed.
Wire shelving in front storage and basement areas.
Yellow LED's and a selector switch added to one of the lights above the bed so it isn't blinding bright all the time.

What did you do to your camper today?

Readjusted my WDH. Move items around for better weight distribution. Wire brushed off rust spots and touched up with paint.

Added last of the door shocks needed on overhead cabinets. . Loaded blue tote in truck. Loaded motorcycle in tow hauler pretty close to being ready to leave after work tomorrow.

Need to stop every so often to stretch your legs there is no way it could be good for you to sit in a vehicle for more than 4-5 hours without getting out and moving around, and I don't have neck or back injury's but I can't stand sitting long.

Didn't do much to the actual trailer but built leveling blocks. She is sitting nice and level in the driveway! Just used a 2x10 and dropped some bolts in to the second board so I can secure it from sliding then just pop them out if I don't need the second board.
