Received notification that my new vacuum breakers for the black tanks have arrived.... too bad I'm in Poland and can't install them.

Also, for those that read my post from a week or so ago, we decided against the Mesa Ridge. As much as we liked the floor plan, there were a few things I couldn't deal with (4 point electric leveling being the main one).

Bed time here in Poland.... ready to be back in the USA this weekend!

Started mucking around planning wiring for a new Bogart Engineering TM-2030RV-F TriMetric Battery Monitor. I need to figure out the capacity of my Interstate batteries in Ampere hours; I have two Interstate marine dual purpose, a HD24-DP and a 24M-HD, a year apart in age and wired in parallel. They're not rated in Ah, but in Reserve Capacity-25, which is in minutes; stupid for camping trailer usage, not really deep cycle batteries, but cheap for the dealer when they set the rig up. I think a reasonable approximation is 20 Ah apiece, 40 Ah when in parallel.

This piqued my interest so I did a little digging. RC25 is the nomenclature for Reserve Capacity at 25 Amp load. The HD24DP battery has an RC25 value of 100 according the the interstate specs. to Approximate Ah, multiply RC * 0.6 giving you an Ah value of 60 for that battery. The 24MHD has an RC value of 95 so it is very close. So in parallel, you have close to 120 Ah.

Added Bathroom Lighting and Keyless Entry Lock

Added an 18" LED light fixture over the vanity in our bathroom...installed with a dimmer switch so the DW can get just the right amount of light for the right amount of makeup to make her pretty....she knows that makes me a happy camper...lol...also, added the keyless entry lock from RVLocks to our camper .....less keys to maintain.

Thank you.

How did you come up with RC * 0.6? I have seen the number, but not an explanation of where it comes from.

Edit: found something:
BU-904: How to Measure Capacity ‚Äď Battery University
No accurate RC to Ah conversion exists but the most common formula is RC divided by 2 plus 16. A short method is dividing RC by 1.9.

Is that a battery operated LED or wired in? I'd be interested in where you got it. Thanks.

https://www.pacificpowerbatteries.co...aq/dcfaq4.html

From this article:

Reserve Capacity (RC) is the number of minutes a fully charged battery at 80 o F (26.7 o C) is discharged at 25 amps before the voltage falls below 10.5 volts. To convert Reserve Capacity (RC) to Ampere-Hours at the 25 amp rate, multiple RC by .4167. More ampere-hours (or RC) are better in every case. Within a BCI group size, the battery with higher ampere-hours (or RC) will tend to have longer lives and weigh more because of thicker plates and more lead.

Also from this article:

If you connect two that are not the same type, you will either overcharge the smaller of the two, or you will undercharge the larger of the two.

Thanks. I'm going to check it out.

It looks like your medicine cabinet has a valence at the top. Mine doesn't have that, so I'm not sure how well this light would fit.

Installed my second keyless RV lock. Apparently my wife called up the in-laws back on Black Friday and told them it was a great sale. They finally met us in Florida and we had our Christmas together. Now I have keyless locks on both doors!

Otherwise, fixed up our bicycles. They'd been neglected for a while now.

This is fascinating. We now have three proposals for estimating capacity in Ah based on RC-25:
RC-25/2 + 16
RC-25*0.6
RC-25*0.4167
Which would yield, respectively, 66, 60, and 42 Ah for a battery with an RC-25 rating of 100. One might as well throw dice...

Installed Bogart Engineering TM-2030RV-F TriMetric battery monitor.

Observed baseline load of slightly under half an Ampere.

Topped up battery fluid.

I have the TM2030 and the SC2030 for my solar and love it. Never have to wonder if I'm drawing down or charging, always know state of batteries. Installed an inverter and love how TM2030 lets me know if the solar is keeping up with the coffee pot or microwave. I have the ability to read as little as a .01 draw. Highly recommend. Their customer service is top rate also. Always willing to help.

Nothing with 65mph winds and salt water all over the place from flooding just moved it out of harms way.

Waiting for May to start ⛺️ Camping
