Todays follies

Today I installed the front Sumo Springs on the W, and finished the decals to personalize the ride. You'll know me on the highway, coming or going. Needless to say,...........We fish !!!

Installed and tested Progressive Industries EMS-HW30C, 30 Amp surge & electrical protection.

Discovered and corrected a number of loose connections in WFCO WF-8955PEC distribution panel.

Jacked her up, so I could rotate the tires. They'd sat on one spot long enough.

Ran the slides/awnings in & out. Let the A/Cs run awhile. Just kinda exercised everything.

Adjusted the brakes. I am sure I need to convert to disk brakes.

I set up my awning poles. I got the idea from another forum. They're actually sold as limb supports and only go to 7 ft 6 inches. Amazingly enough the end is the right size to go on the awning roller tube, it snaps on.

They were $29 each at amazon.com.

Since I needed more length I grabbed some 3/4 pvc out of my shop and 4 3/4 couplings. 3/4 pvc will fit up inside the limb support. I put 30 inches up inside the support pole, then a coupling. the support pole rides on the coupling. then another 15.5 inches of 3/4 pvc and then another coupling. the last 3/4 coupling fits perfectly in the limb support foot.

I put the 30 inches of pvc up inside the limb support to help keep it from flopping around.

Working pretty good so far.

Also have ratchet straps securing awning to ground and a shade cloth attached to awning and then to ground with bungees.

Wind gets much above 20 mph I'll still be taking it all down and rolling up the awning.

Where do you store it?...Some folks have used painter poles that stay attached to awning and store against the trailer awning support....Some also have pole setups like thisClick image for larger version

Nice idea, would appreciate some pictures of the added pvc for length, hard for me to visualize. Thanks!

I'll get some in the next day or 2, my wife wants to see them too. Right now I'm busy trying to grow grass in florida sand. Not much like IL dirt. I called about some straw and Ace hardware didn't know what straw was, apparently they don't use it here. Campground maintenance man didn't know either. He said "I wondered why that one guy threw that stuff all over the ground".

Hard to keep the seeds wet when they won't rake into the sand, and the sand just lets the moisture disappear, and the hot sun bakes down all the time.

Brackets and awning poles are OC's,,.Flapper poles are mine.....Lights kinda dress them up, but next time I drill a set, might use square telescopic tubing.....Like my flagpole

I've made several sets of awning poles using "Easy-Up" corner posts. Very strong stuff.
