A new camper is like a painter's blank canvas. Snow here gives me plenty of time for tinkering before the season starts. This week, I added six Prest-O-Fit step rugs to our new Rockwood.

Well this was the other day as O apparently didn't post this...
Finally thought to check my anode rod after quite some time. Looks like I finally need to replace it!
Otherwise, we are in a hotel for a long weekend while the camper gets a new gray tank and a few other things done. My wife has a doctor appointment in Orlando and I have to pickup a work badge in Jacksonville on Monday.
Finger's crossed the shop does a good a good job. So far, their helpfulness has been great. We stayed in the shop their parking lot Wednesday night:

I was seriously about to reply that it looks like it has another 6-12 months left in it. I've removed ones some that were much further gone than this!

IMO not worth a $10-$20 part especially that one seems to be totally spent.
If it were me it would be replaced I don't take chances and those rods do work

Hey, Doug. I'm curious why you had the WH door completely off rather than just hanging down on its hinge.

Mine isn't hinged. It's just pegs that it sits on.

The questions I have have been simplified but could be expanded to a multitude of things in this vein. I am thinking along the lines of maintenance and repair management. I am certain that you could just wing it with some things others not so much.
Considering that you and the tribe live in your 5er:
a) Do you keep things like the rod in stock and do you keep an inventory of other things?
b) Are you pro-active or always on the hunt for available part store locations everywhere you go?
c) I have down time to remember/think about getting things done. Do you have some sort of inspection schedule?

Sadly, didn't have one AND the repair shop that I was sitting out behind was already closed for the day. So, put this partial back in.... I'll get one on Monday when I get back and will throw it in Monday night.

A) I keep a few things in stock but less than you'd think. I'm running overweight as is and have to keep things to a minimum. Things like anode rods that are so rarely replaced, I don't keep extras. Fuses and slide motors, I have extras (yes, I freaking hate that Schwintek slide system).
B) No, I plan for Amazon ordering for a vast majority of things. I'll pay a little extra to let it come to me; though, most of the time Amazon wins price-wise. I rarely end up in RV stores, honestly.
C) Believe it or not, 90% of my life is just like yours. I work and family and rest at night. I shop online during my work day.  It's life, my house just has wheels and I change yards every couple of weeks.

I changed the oil in the generator and also tried a seafoam carburetor treatment process I saw. I made a video on YouTube at https://youtu.be/355iwj83LqI if you want to check it out. The manufacturer also has a good video on the process at https://youtu.be/C6JEiGbR01A I never used Seafoam before so the jury is out on its effectiveness but worth a try with these finicky onan carburetors.

And no- no real schedule. The truck is easier, it's schedule is well documented (and expensive to have done!). The camper is less fixed for me.
I'll go up on the roof every other month or so. I am regularly visually inspecting the tires and suspension. I check out the pin box area. I inspect the hitch, etc.
The biggest thing I'm not great at is keeping up after the wheels, bearings, and whatnot. In fact, this is a good reminder that before I really start busting west, I should have someone do that (or recruit a buddy to show me how).

My WFCO Converter bit the dust so I replaced it with a Progressive Dynamics 4655 MBA. The WFCO has a 2 year Warranty so it is covered but I have to send it in and then wait until they repair or replace and ship back. Figured might as well get one that has the 4 stage charging and good reputation. It only took 20 minutes or so to install it. The pictures in the instructions are a little dark so it took me longer to figure out how it mounts then to install it. I could do it in ~5 minutes now that I know. The black plastic piece mounts where the old converters hold down screws are located. The little Charge Wizzard remote sits perfectly in a cutout right behind the dark plastic Plexiglas so you can see the LED. Hopefully this one will live up to it's reputation.
