Items done to the Roo this week
This camper is a 2003, so this is an ongoing project...
1. Replaced leaky, old 1.5" grey waste water valve with new Valterra Bladex valve. Blew out the greywater tank using the hose while I was doing this. No leaks! This was very cheap and easy to do. Looking forward to replacing the black one next. The valve slides way easier now and I actually rotated the handle 180 degrees away from the rearmost wheel to hopefully protect it in event of a blow out.
2. Replaced crusty old breakaway switch with new Fastway switch with coiled steel cable. Soldered in the wiring as recommended. Left the switch box just loose enough that it can pivot (didn't know they needed to do that! Glad I actually read the instructions.)
3. Installed a slick screen door release that circumvents the need to use the slider. The trigger is a bicycle spoke. From inside you simply push down and the springloaded lever automatically pops back up when you close it. Added a custom bamboo grab handle too, using stainless screws and a little epoxy.

... and a few more things...
4. Mounted a convenient bottle opener on the fridge.
5. Built and hung a hook rack for keys, level, lighter, headlamps, etc.
6. Added a mount for my trusty old Maglite next to the fire extinguisher at the door.

OK, that's a new one on me. Why does it need to pivot?

I'm going top hazard a guess because disasters don't always happen in a straight line.

what I did to my rv
I purchased an aluminum box on ebay bought some steel from Lowes and made brackets to bolt and support the overhang on my rear bumper, ( lighter than a bicycle) to store my electrical cord and extension to free up storage space under bed..besides its only 4 ft from the user area..
Moved the spare to the right and gives better access to the rear ( stablizers)
also bought 2 30in jacks to help level this 37ft beast.
if gas line was not in the way I would have put some unistrutt across the I beams to store a tall ladder to clean or work on slideouts.. before closeing.
I'm older and not so stable on the roof..

Evereddie nailed it. The pivot action allows the cable to pull the plunger out in a straight line rather than just snapping the head off from an angle and not activating the brake system.

Wired up a 30 amp receptacle to connect the trailer to. It's out there charging away. Very happy to have that done.

Did that at home with a 50AMP for the new Crusader 5th, what a nice thing to have now.
I am running an extension cable in a 4" piece of PVC underground so we don't trip on the wire, that cord will stay home and bought a new one and extension to take with us.

My wife takes pity on me - I have allergies and if I mow the lawn, it takes me three days before I'm right again. I bought her the best riding lawnmower I could afford though.

Before we went fulltime my wife mowed our yard also. I told her I'd be happy to do it but I was using a tractor and 6' shredder. She mumbled something about broken windows and started mowing the lawn.

Got lucky. When we replaced our furnace with a gas furnace it freed up several breakers and they left the wires capped off. The wires reached to where I wanted to put it and it was a simple matter to remove the white wire from a breaker and put it in the neutral bar.

LOL I used the same technique to get her to take over the laundry 100%.
All it took was one or two pink socks.

Ordered a Winegard Trav'ler today... Amazon says it will arrive Monday, so hopefully I'll get it installed before leaving for the beach Thursday.
I'm in Taiwan until tomorrow, so I will probably do some middle of the night jet lag work Monday night - Tuesday morning.

Added a 5-up towel rack. $12.. not bad. http://a.co/e3OMSDq
I put adhesive felt on the over-the-door hooks. I'll likely modify the brackets and screw the thing down. Though, it's pretty good as-is.
As an aside, how do you guys make use of this useless closet? Obviously I'm too tall for hanging things.

The totally useless closets, and the lack of anyone talking about it on any if the RV foruns I'm on is one of the biggest mysteries of camping.

UPS just delivered my 4 new Goodyear Endurance tires. ST225/75R15 LR E. Each one weights 34#. Heavy little things. Will have them mounted and balanced with the TPS 507 Flow Thru sensors on sometime next week. Nice looking tires.
