Cooked hot dogs and corn for lunch. Took a nap. Had a couple beers and now a game of dominos before dinner. An awesome day.

Third or fourth season on ours too. I had to send one back our first year because the LCD panel on the receiver quit working. The website I bought it from quickly and painlessly sent me a new one. No problems since. We also take the batteries out over the winter and use just generic alkaline batteries with no problems. I think the special batteries are supposed to last longer in the cold but the alkalines are replaced every season so it is never an issue.

This Weeks To Do List

We're getting Rocky today and setting her up out on a side street next to the house as we're having our 14-year old oak floors refinished. (It'll take 5 days) The Mrs. will use the camper for everything but I don't mind climbing into the basement via the window wells for that stuff. (No oak floors in the basement)

I got a fresh tube of dico to reseal any issues on the roof (I noticed cracks around the radio antenna up there) and I also have some leftover eternabond tape if I need it for anything.

I just washed her a few weeks ago but I didn't unroll the awning and give her a good cleaning with the anti-mold stuff.

I got about 3 feet of 3/4 PVC pipe and coupler so I can make the Mrs. a little pole so she can reach the vent in the bathroom. (So I don't get woken at 3 am to come open and close it for her.) I think I'll also put some velcro on it and some on the wall in the bathroom so it doesn't get lost. (Velcro tape works great)

If I get time, I also want to get PVC pipes and create something I can easily attach to the ladder for 1) Hanging out my US Flag 2) Mounting my cell phone boost antenna. I'll have to remember to take down the antenna whenever a thunderstorm is in the area...nothing says hit me like metal sitting higher than everything else!

My RV batteries are now going on 4 years old so I may remove them and take them down to the auto parts store for a detailed test on how they're doing so maybe get some idea if I need to be replacing soon. (How often do folks in here replace them? And also what are some good ones?)

Lube black and grey tank valves today with some plumbers grease. I had black valve stick pretty tight a few trips ago and used lock lubricant spray at camp site, all i had i am not much of a WD-40 fan, it is something about the smell that gets me. I finally worked with it to get it open to empty black. Out travel trailer is just over a year old. It was the 2nd trip of the season that it stuck. My fingers we not long enough to get up to the gate valve grove where gasket is, i was lucky had some forceps, so I pinched a piece of towel in them put some plumbers grease on and went at it both on gate valves and groves I guess i should be good for another yearClick image for larger version

Batteries were draining really fast, like full charge to low volt alarm going off in a few hours.

Installed a few cig lighter type outlets and thought that might be the cause even though they weren't in use. Nope they are good.

Had batteries test, they are good.

Thankfully a kind friend with a volt meter helped me out. Was getting a major draw even with everything turned off. Based on fuses it was a string off lights at one end of the camper. Started pulling lights, removed couch and anything else possible to check for a bad wire.

We guessed it might be under the couch that slides out, movement near lots of wires. Come to find the wire to slide motor were bare and touching. Tapped them up and think we are good. Charged batteries back up and now sitting unplugged at home and seems ok. Going boondocking this weekend for 5 days...fingers crossed

Yesterday I mounted four new Goodyear Endurance tires to replace the originals that lasted between 5 and 6000 miles.(build date 2217) That should be fresh enough to make them last the recommended 5 years and we should get the whole five years!

Lippert Ind says they will kick in $65 per tire due to the fact the axles were out of alignment. They finally got those squared away for us. I am anxious to see how it tows with the new tires. It pulled a lot better with the axles aligned, now see if new tires make a little more improvement.

I had built a bead breaker for my shop, got to try it out with these tires, worked great. That really puts the "discount" in Discount Tires, didn't have to pay to have mounted. I did buy balancing beads to put in each tire, 4 oz. We had used them before in our motorcycle tires before going to Centramatic balancers, they seemed to do the job so I decided to try them in the trailer tires.

Cut and painted 2 2x2s to put under the dinette table in our 2504s. I got the idea from here. The person who came up with this used 2x4s I used 2x2s for more leg room. Painted them black, just take them out when we need to use the dinette as a bed. Jay

Did you replace the spare tire, too?

No, I didn't replace the spare as these tires are only a little under two years old. I don't see any reason to replace it as it has never been on the ground, stored under the trailer out of the sunlight. They were just ground off by the poor alignment of the axles. I realize they are China bombs but after taking them off they really don't look as flimsy as many trailer tires I've seen.

Bought two of these to hold my two 30 amp power cords (primary/spare - extension cord). Looked at them in the store and they seem pretty stout. Just hoping the cords fit. But then again, at $0.99 each, I'll find something to use them for...

Well I was able finally to go out to my TT and put a coat of wash and wax on it yesterday, I wax the whole trailer in about four hours, I was able to clean the window to. The wife wanted me to do half but once I started it was no way that I was going to stop. We are planning on going on a 2500 miles trip in September so I needed to do this and man I am so glad I did it.

I thought the same thing when replacing my stock Crusader D tires for Carlisle E rated HD tires then realized the one factory spare with 300 miles in broke 1/2 the belts and is warped beyond use, so ordered another Carlisle tires as a spare but can't get it replaced for 3 weeks just had hernia surgery. I will have it done before our week trip to TT Lake & Shore in August.
