The factory boards on the other hand, will work no differently (or any worse) than the Dino boards, while they work. So, preemptively on the boards is a bit over the top for me but if/when they do quit working, of course I'll use something better.

I'm sorry but I must respectfully disagree. Solid state assemblies can be designed to be cheap, reliable, or somewhere in between. Take for example an audio amplifier. You can pay a couple of hundred dollars for a consumer grade 100 watt (stereo even) amplifier or more than that for a typical 100 watt commercial amplifier like you would find providing background music in a Walmart. The difference is that after a few of years the home unit would be dead and gone but the commercial version will still be chugging away out of sight and out of mind.

I first repaired a Dometic fridge in 1990 by replacing the factory control board (for the third time) with a dinosaur board. Ten years of flawless operation laster we sold the coach. Since then I've heard nothing but outstanding reviews of their products and service.

I believe that if there is any reason to doubt the reliability of a typical production grade critical system such as furnace, water heater, or refrigerator then the control upgrade is a no brainer.

Considering how cheaply built many RV components are, a reasonable argument could be made that there is reason to doubt the reliability of just about everything that goes down the road with you.

Xgarys, some people immediately replace the stock showerhead, some don’t. Neither is wrong. Both showerheads work. It’s just personal preference. Appliance control boards would be the same thing.

By golly you're right about that but I would hardly consider a shower head to be part of a critical system. Nor do I think preventative maintenance is right or wrong- just prudent.

Swapping out a control board is not what I’d call preventative maintenance. It’s swapping a perfectly good, operating part, albeit lower quality, with a higher quality part. Same as my analogy about the showerhead. Checking the caulking on the roof and applying more as needed fits my definition of preventative maintenance.

Well that's the beauty of opinions isn't it? Everybody prefers their own.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion and I respect that.
And, as I said, I'm not disagreeing that the Dino boards are better.

My point was (and is about other things like itat mentioned) is when folks get on here and DEMAND folks change out perfect good working things like control boards, tank vents on the roof, shower heads, converters, etc... because THEY'VE deemed them junk, is silly.

If anyone wants to change out all the OEM components which you think are inferior, have at it. It will be a LARGE list but many of those things will work just fine for a long time. If you want to post a detailed explanation as to why you chose to do so, we all can weigh the factors as to why you made your decision and take it into consideration but demanding others rush out and do the same is simply not good advice.

The same...but not. Many people use premium products to replace not so premium.
I.E. quality/synthetic lubricants, lol shower heads, tires, brakes, wheels, appliances, mattress, faucets, even furniture and layout of/on/in their RVs. Most would function(to some degree), but we choose to replace with OUR preferred items. YMMV

"DEMAND"? That's kind of a stretch to infer.

Cabinet removal

Spent 2 hours removing a useless small cabinet attached to the wall and floor by four screws and 22 Staples!!

Apparently they attached the cabinet to the wall from the outside before they sheathed the outer skin. Ended up sawing the staples with a hacksaw blade between cabinet and wall.

All hooked up

All hooked up and ready to go to FL Tues pm or Wed am. Just have to load the refrigerator, retract the slides and the steps. Have reservations in Davenport for Fri. Should be able to make the 500 miles in 3 days if we hurry. LOL

Nah, I think they'll do 300 on the first, 200 on the second, and finish up with 100 on the third.
The last 100 was from getting lost! [emoji12]
Safe travels Oldcoot.

After much engineering, I mounted my Torklift Powerarmor Solar battery box on my camper. I thought that because I had 24 inches between the frame rails, I could go with the 24” box. Not so. In order to get this box mounted, I had to fabricate a set of rails to mount the angle brackets to. I bought two 1/4” thick, 2” wide pieces of flat steel, cut them to fit, primed and painted them, and attached them to the frame. I then cut the angle brackets down to fit, and mounted them and the box to the frame. All this with only six trips to Lowe’s to get pieces and parts. Fortunately, Lowe’s is only just around the corner, five minutes from the house. Another successful modification is now in the archives.

Not sure why the photos are rotated 90 degrees. I took them in portrait vice landscape orientation. But you get the idea.

Merry Christmas to all!
