What did you do to your camper today?

Installed new 320 toilet that Dometic sent to replace our 1 year old one that would not hold water in bowl. Was going to put the third new gasket in but emailed Dometic about the problem and they sent a new toilet right out. Yes, service!
Installed our new Oxygenics Fury shower head. Can't wait to try that out!
Rear power stabilizer jacks had quit working so decided to tackle that problem. Removed the boot cover and noticed rust stain on bottom of outer end cover. Aha!- moment. So took motor apart and discovered that water had set in the motor long enough that the spring behind one brush was partially rusted away. Spring from an ink pin to the rescue! All back together and seems to be working fine again.
So just a warning to those that have the Lippert power stabilizers, the boots covering the motors will allow water intrusion. I plan to seal around the opening and especially around the hole where the wiring exits the boot.

I also added a new oxygenics shower head. Reversed the faucet assembly so the hose goes off the bottom as it should. Put in a central vacuum system with 30 foot hose because we love going to the beach. Washed the rig and squeezed into a 5 day spot at Casper beach starting Friday. Woohoo.

My buddy (thru his mobile RV tech company) got approval today from Norcold to replace the cooling unit. It's going to be a huge pain in the butt- the fridge has to be emptied, doors removed, pulled from it's cubby hole, laid on its front, and then 5 hours of work to swap out the cooler unit. And then reverse it to re-install it.

I mean, I'll be happy if it starts working right but man I'm not looking forward to the work to get there.

Other than unloading and reloading the fridge, don't you expect to just sit in your easy chair with a cold one and say, "I LOVE work. I can sit and watch it for HOURS!"

Not when it's a buddy doing the work (with only getting paid reimbursement from Norcold). I'll be helping. I am paying for his helper (aka the muscle) to come for the day.

We'll ultimately give my friend's family a nice gift. But for now, it's a friend taking care of me.

Used my new $22 refractometer to check the specific gravity of the batteries and topped off the water. 3 1/2+ yr old batteries are still reading 1.24. Should be good for another year or so.

Where did you get the central box system and what brand did you go with?

Doug, not that I'll probably ever get to Florida with our rig as we are way out West; but his website has a nice look and feel. Plus I like his quote at the bottom.
I retire next week so there should be more camping in our future.

Saw several advertised for around 250.00. Made my own for under 100.00 using a low profile wet/dry blower/vac and a 30 foot accessory hose.
The original vacuum hose becomes the exhaust hose which I hang out the basement door when in use. The vac fits under the bed and the 30 foot hose is connected via a 1 5/8ths hole I drilled at the foot of the bed and hangs out under the space at the end of the bed utilizing a small rack I made from 1 inch PVC and 6 90* elbows. The DW loves it.

I've used a refractometer for checking brix settings on soda machines. Did not know it could be used in place of a hydrometer. So much cool information on this site...

Swapped out my two year old Castle Rock tires for new E rated GY Endurance tires. Luckily we never had any issues with the factory tires in the two years of use but with $100 in rebates at Discount Tire I decided to pull the trigger.

I was going to change the spare to but since it is covered it still looks brand new. Hopefully we never have to use it, but if we do I'm sure it should be able to handle a trip to the nearest town with a tire store. I can always change it in the future if I ever have an extra $120 burning a hole in my pocket.
