No, I did not change any of my wiring. When I did this wiring project 4 years ago, I anticipated the eventual change from my 30 amp trailer to my current 50 amp trailer so I used 4awg wire underground from my house panel to the 100 amp panel in my shed. I used 6/3+ground from my 100 amp shed panel in a 20' run to a 30 amp RV plug box (yes, for that configuration, I only used one hot leg and capped off L2). To make the subject conversion, I removed the 30 amp single pole breaker that I myself installed 4 years ago. [Thus, the statement "That's why they put a 30 amp breaker in your panel" is not technically correct.] I replaced the 30 amp breaker with a 50 amp double pole breaker and connected both hot legs of the 6/3 existing wire to it. On the other end, I removed the old 30 amp RV plug box and installed a new 50 amp RV plug box straight from Home Depot. And, yes, I used BOTH hot legs since the 50 amp trailer with its 4 prong plug likes both hot legs. My Progressive Industries EMS-HW50C unit (which I installed myself) shows correct voltage and amperage usage on both L1 and L2. I turned on both A/C units, the electric water heater element and the microwave and the rig passed all tests. I say I'm good to go.
Thanks for clearing that up, That is the correct way from your post good thinking ahead..... ( I also thought it was in your trailer being the house wasn't mention )

Easy enough to install I wired mine to protect against shore power and the generator power that way if my generator messes up I'm still protected.

The hardest part is manipulating to wires in the cable to get it to attach inside the PI unit. #6 cable isn't the most pliable of wire to work with in a confined area.

There are lots of threads with precise details - dependent upon your actual rv.

BTW....I bought mine from MakariosRV for less than $300 and free shipping within the US

These are so much more expensive then the external ones, so what really is the advantage? It just seems like another piece of expensive hardware that can go bad, that will be a pain to replace once it does.

Hare wired Progressive Surge protector has a life Time warranty. If you get another rv you can take out and put it in it. It won't get stolen, you can wire it to protect from shore power and your generator. You won't have something else to keep track of everywhere you go.

I incorrectly ASSumed that my references to 30 and 50 amp plugs would imply power source and not internals........... but I could have been clearer.

Now, I only wish my thinking ahead to the power needs of a 50 amp trailer would have included thinking ahead to the height of a taller trailer. My next step is to receive bids on making my shed about two feet taller! DOH!

Once again, I haven't done anything yet except buy more things. Today I ordered a Rear View Wireless Quad Monitor Camera System-RVS-7706123WQ-C. It comes with one camera and I can add up to three more in the future. Not a bad deal at $299.00. As for actually doing anything, they get done once I move back home next month.

Since our new trailer has, yikes, 3 sewer hoses instead of one (which is what we were used to for 5 years) I went to Home Depot to figure out a way to install something under my back bumper to store the extra poop shoots.
The 3-inch rain gutter hoses were too small (I want to fit the sewer hoses AND the fittings in there) so looked at the 4-inch square fence posts. I really liked them, even though they have the holes in them for the fence railings, but I can put them on the top since they'll be on the bottom of the bumper. Unfortunately, my Home Depot didn't have the fence post covers so I'll have to go to another store (Big R) to see what they have.
Since our RV isn't white, my wife will surely want it to be painted so it's "pretty" so I'll be buying some gold or brown spray paint...as well as primer and some light sanding paper to prep the PVC.

Today I crawled around under my Park Model and levelled the trailer. Added blocking to 10 points to raise the trailer. Trailer is on a slanting hillside site and we are not allowed to dig holes, just sits on blocks and cement patio stones. It has lasted for 4 winters so we did good. Thanksgiving tomorrow with 5 of the 7 kids and then back out Monday to Winterize. Next weekend get ready for trip with Rockwood to Michigan.
