Why can't you roll up a sun shade with the awning?

We have a sun shade screen that attaches to the roller of our awning like this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NP95LBN

They say you're not supposed to roll up the sun shade with the awning. Anyone know why not? I actually did it briefly when some wind came through and it did fine. I'm not sure what they say you shouldn't do that.

more material (weight) than the motor is rated for
more material means a larger roll and it wont tuck as tight to the wall

that and the MFG's CYA policy

I would look at one that will detach into two pieces from the awning. The short piece stays attached to the awning and can be rolled up when the awning is closed. With the longer 6 foot piece being un-zipped and stored away in your storage area.
My sun shade is 7' tall and is 18' wide. The piece that stays attached is 1' long on my sun shade. The portion that will stay on the awning can be any length from 1' to 3' in length. You provide the awning width and how tall the awning is from the ground to the company.

The company is in California and is called Vista Shade. Reasonably price an very good customer service.

X2 on Vista Shade. Mine is 19'w X 10'drop. A 4' roller section and a 6' addon. Most of the time the 4' section does suffice. Only had to use the 6' addon a few times.

I roll mine up all the time... I don't travel with it like that but I roll it up when it needs to be for weather.

I had a manual awning that I rolled my shade up with all the time. Never would travel with the shade rolled up but when stationary, worked well.
