Thank You for the info. I haven't really talked to anyone who has been there, just wanted to go. You clinched it for us!

BTW, did you find anything while mining?

Yep, found a nice little diamond! It was plastic, but perfectly “cut”:

Apparently parents will toss out toy diamonds for their kids to find and don’t always find them all. We were at the filtering station next to a group who seemed like pros (literally) and they had a diamond. I can honestly say, given how small it was- I probably would have missed it had I had one. Was a fun day any way. We packed a lunch and hung out together for a few hours.

Here’s our site:

The only downside was that it dropped off a bit on the left side. It was built up with landscape timbers.

I have a whole album of our stay on Flickr. It’s a lot of painting, easter, and dinner out (at Em’s Cafe- little down home place but we loved the food!).

Hope that helps.

Leaving midMay from White Rock BC to do cross Canada, the Trans Labrador Highway, couple of weeks in Newfoundland, then on to the Atlantic provinces , NE States as far south as Martha’s Vinyard, then west through the central US, with plans to arrive home mid October.

Are you traveling with the Forest River AT18 caravan to Alaska?

No, caravans are nice that is everything is already set up. We just like to go our own way, at whatever speed we go at. To us it’s more fun to go alone

This is our 2nd year of travel. Alaska is on our list. ( while we are still young) found this caravan on the forum and thought e would give it a try. I have to admit I like having all the campgrounds reserved as some are national parks and sold out. We did receive discounts at every stop. This caravan is non profit so another good thing. We have a great itinerary with lots of time in between. I’m hoping both of us have great trips. We are AT 18. If you happen to see our caravan somewhere stop and say hi,

Keeping it low key this year as we have just moved to NC from MD. The past 2 summers we have camped 3 months at a time, one in SW and one in NW. So far we have planned 2 weeks on Kerr Lake, NC and a week in MD. for 50th HS reunion in Sep.
