It was a very nice place and the perfect solution for serious RVers who are also serious about there golf. There were many homes along the fairways as well as many long term RVs. Of course northern WA is not golf country in the winter.
So, what - exactly - makes one a "serious RVer"? And who gets to decide? Do you also have to be an "aficionado" of something? Maybe a whatever-"phile"?

Watching the TV show, "Flippin' RV's", it appears that restored vintage RV's, as far back as the 30's, are very popular, and come with hefty price tags.

Most of those would do any campground proud.

So, I can see using 10 years as a "benchmark", but just to be used at a starting point of the campground requesting to see photos, or other proof of actual condition.

Our camper is 21 years old. Not showroom condition, but pretty nice for what it is. I'd be angry if we were ever turned away.

This has been good info to learn. When the day comes my camper is over 10 years I'll just make an error and state it as 8 years old should they ask.

We like lots of different parks. We don't pigeon hole ourselves as just State Park types, etc. We see the 10 year rule all the time in true "resort" type parks. Mostly in cities or beach resort type. You know the type of resort I mean. Not the "resort" with the broken blinking Open sign in the window. Most of the time when I call to make a reservation they ask up front.

I'm always surprised when I read a post about someone that made a reservation and was not allowed in because of that rule. It's always posted on literature and websites, and then you see it in people's complaints.

Agree Completely

[QUOTE=BehindBars;2371586]I have never had this happen, but wow, if I was asked to supply photos of my RV when making reservations, I would in turn ask them for photos of their restrooms, campsite pads, picnic tables, roads, etc. No facilities over 10 years old for me, no sir.

I keep things a long time. I try to buy quality, maintain it well and repair anything that goes wrong immediately. I keep cars and trucks at least 10 years, frequently longer. Everything I have looks new and I don't think I'm alone in that.

YES
I was denied.

We were making reservations and they asked the age. We told the it was a '95, and they said they do not accept TT over 10 years old. We asked why and they said they wanted to keep the park looking nice.

I think they had other reasons.

When we told them that it is keep inside a fully enclose garage and many people have told us it looks better than other brand new trailers, they said we could have a reservations but they would have to look at it when we got there.

When we got there they welcomed us and said it did look new.

so, now we know that it's not really a '10 year rule', but a 'looks good' rule...

I think it is often just a boilerplate. I suppose you should take pictures when it is new and have them ready to send when requested.
I like BLM they never ask. The one time I stayed at a park one night it was self service, find a spot that doesn’t say reserved and put the money in an envelope and drop it in the box.

I've ran into it a couple of times.

Totally not proud of this, but I've fibbed on occasion. It's never been an issue once I got there.

Once we had someone ask at a resort and make a big deal out of it but I eventually convinced her that it was in good condition but that she had the right to reject us when we got there. Sure looked at the camper and said "you're good". However, looking around at the campground there were seasonal campers there that were much older.. not sure why she gave us a hard time about ours being 10 years old when there were campers that were obviously older than ours there.

FWIW.. I've seen campers in much worse condition than ours that are newer. It's all in how you care for something. I try to do the best I can.

Wanted to get in one with our 21' new TT but they had a minimum size of 25' & couldn't count tongue length :-(

We keep ours up & are approaching the ten year rule ... of course, 2020 doesn't count right?!?

Wonder what they would do in a case like ours when it gets 10yo, our TT was built in May 2013, bought August 2013 but is listed on the placard and title as a 2014. At 8yrs since build date it's still like new.

The cg we are seasonals have a 10yr rule for new seasonals but once your in the age doesn't matter if you take care of it. A seasonal family we knew had a wood sided destination trailer with opposing expandable walls, on running gear, which they bought used and had it set up next to us for 17yrs. Back in 2007 when their health got to where they gave up camping the trailer fell apart as it was pulled off the site.

Yep, we've run into the length question also.

10yr Rule? Pictures? What Am I Missing Out On?

A couple of weeks back a post was made asking if anyone had been denied a stay at a park because their RV is over 10 years old.

I have not been in that situation, but I started wondering what I'm missing out on at these parks that deny?

I may have to hurry up and check these spots out cause mine was born in 2011.

Yes, that was the post I was referring to, but it was very specific, as in "have you been denied".

I want to expand on that discussion without hijacking his post.

We have camp hosted at private RV parks on and off for 10 years, and most parks do have this "rule." However, they are only posted to keep out units that are so old and dilapidated that they could pose a danger. We never turned any away. If they were over 10 years old, we asked for a photo. The owners were always extremely accommodating and willing to compromise.
