Beware of 24/7 towing service
We were traveling through Nebraska westbound on I-80 and had a tire blow out between Overton and Lexington Nebraska. Called Good Sam Roadside Assistance. This was about 2:30PM. They indicated they would arrange for a tow truck to change the tire and that we would be contacted with the name of the tow service and approximate time of arrival. We were told 60-90 minutes. We were about 5 miles from Lexington. We could not believe the wait time. The tow service was identified as Alex’s Tow Truck in Lexington. We googled said tow truck and called the number and reached 24/7 Roadside assistance. They gave no helpful information. We continued to contact Good Sam and spoke to a supervisor. Still no tow service. After 6 hours of waiting on I-80 we called directly to a tow service(Flatwater towing in Overton) They arrived about 30 minutes later, changed the tire and they were paid by me with hopes of being reimbursed by Good Sam.
I believe that in the future one must insist on being given the name and number of the tow company and that you call directly and speak with a person who can give you the name and contact of the tow operator.
This never happened with Alex’s Tow Truck.
We believe this is a scam operation that never shows up to perform service. We were also told they could not send a tow truck until they were paid in advance!
