Fire at home

We were in the Blue Mountain RV park in Blanding Utah and got a call from my neighbor that there was a big out of control fire near my house. Rural property, 5 acre lots and dry desert conditions.
Seems my idiot neighbor was trying to burn some weeds and the wind whipped it out of control taking almost everything on his place including house, sheds and a lot of ricks of firewood.
My neighbor grabbed a garden hose and went on the defensive saving my car trailer and keeping the fire from advancing any farther. Our VFD and a crew from a neighboring town had a time getting a handle on it as there was a lot of junk on the fellers property and gun powder stored in one of the sheds.

mr blackrock, so glad the fire was controlled and you did not suffer any damage other than aesthetics. we live up in the arizona high country and the threat of fire is constant. firewising is a constant process, and even with that there is no guarantee. and the forests here get filled with people coming up from phoenix that just insist on building campfires in all the craziest locations! it's scary! they don't seem to understand how fast a fire can spread!

perhaps a barbeque for the VFD would be in order.

I know what you mean about the flatlanders coming up to the Arizona high country. I hope with all the moisture we got last winter the fire danger will be low.
We are going to tie down at Heber RV resort for June and July possibly August as well.

He's a schoolteacher and we have been neighbors for over 35 years. He is OCD about his firewood supply and he and his boys Had LOTS of it piled up and everything went up in smoke. He will probably scrape it all off and put in a doublewide.

We had someone burn during the daytime when its windy. He had a burning permit, but it was for evenings only.
Started the Cottonville fire. 2005 3410 acres.
You could see that people who raked their lawns had no damage, people with leaves had their houses burnt down to the foundation.

Glad your neighbor saved your house.
